Hello Everyone,

I had my first doctors appointment with a gynecologist. After tons of paper work on medical history of myself, and family, as well as my diet, and so on, I finally got to meet the doctor. My visit only cost me $50 without insurance, and he spoke to me about everything, and was completely shocked by how much I knew, and all my printed research I had that I done this year, and years ago. He had my blood taken which consisted of two vials. The doctor went ahead and put me on low dosage of Spiro everyday for two weeks and than my second week it goes up to get my body use to it. Also he put me on estradiol small dosage to start out with. Both of these medications cost me $18 at Wal-Mart. I have a follow up appointment in 4 weeks, and than in July to get more blood test. I am so excited to began my journey, and I know it takes a few months to get the dosage right, and this doctor has treated one transgender patient so he is willing to learn, and he is only 6.5 miles from my house compared to the others that are over 60 miles away. The staff was friendly with me and did not judge me. I am happy to start my journey, and I know patients is a big key factor when on HRT.  ;D

Thanks,
Sfora

Congratulations Sfora, that is a major milestone on your journey.  Smart of you to be so prepared and kudos for finding a physician who, although inexperienced, is willing to learn and work with you.  During my career as an anesthetist I found I could call university medical schools and the faculty was always very willing to provide practice advice and consults without charge.  Your doctor might also consider presenting you (no name of course) as an interesting patient and seek advice.

I had no patience at all and it was an exercise to develop some for the long haul.  We look forward to your developments  ;)

Thanks,

I am so glad to finally began my journey, and that I found a doctor who is close to me, but also willing to work with me unlike many doctors I have talked to. Many universities are like almost 2 hours away. I can't wait to get the dsages on a consistent level.

Sfora.

A doctor who is willing to learn...that is excellent news! :)
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience
