Hiya!

Hopefully I'll be on hormones in about a month, which has got me to realise I need to have some of my sperm frozen before starting HRT/ within the first few months. Could anybody recommend anywhere that could freeze my sperm (preferably affordably) in the North Wales area, or elsewhere in England/ Wales? Any help is greatly appreciated! :D

Just looking into this myself,  cant really help with who to go with in your area but down in the south of England its looking like about £500 to get the swim team in the freezer and for their first year, and then £230 per year to keep the freezer plugged in.

The £500 is made up of the price to store as listed on their website £330, but also £35 registration fee and £130 infection screening and we would probably also take a £500 iui/ivf consultation on top of that if we go ahead.

Reading about it all and trying to pick a clinic is quite confusing,  one thing to note more on the IUI/IVF side of things is success rates, I read that you shouldn't put too much weight into success rates as some clinics are selective on who they treat.  This was brought home when i asked my GP about the local clinic, which it turns out she was associated with previously.  She was proud to say they were honest on chance of success and turned away clients if they didn't have a good chance and they were proud of their high success rate and ranking in the UK.  Needless to say i didn't take away from the conversation the thing she intended. It just reinforced for me that a clinic that only does easy work will be highly ranked for success, doesn't necessarily make them a good clinic

If you haven't already then take a look at the HEFA website,
http://www.hfea.gov.uk/74.html

They have a search feature to find a clinic, however it doesn't show up clinics that may be based outside your area but have a satellite clinic near to you

http://guide.hfea.gov.uk/guide/AdvancedSearch.aspx

PS I have sent them a snotogram about the use of the term "sex change" on the sperm donation page.

Thanks for all the info! That does seem like a rather dodgy practice :/ Hopefully I'm virile enough to be accepted XD

I've found a hospital that does NHS referrals (St Mary's in Manchester), and they've given me info about how to do referrals, so hopefully I'll be able to get it done for free :3
