Hi everyone;
I Would like to find out a few things about the pelvic bone, primarily in relation to MTF hormone therapy;
1) What is the process by which a girl's pelvis widens during puberty?
2) How can the pelvis grow in one direction (width) If the periosteum covers the entire bone?
3) Does the shape of the male pelvis physically prevent it from widening (i.e., would surgery be required to aid in hormone-based pelvic widening)
4) Considering that the pelvis is not a long bone, does it still have epiphyseal plates. If not, then is the pelvis affected by epiphyseal closure during the late teenage years.
5) A study was done showing that the pelvic bone continues to widen by a small amount after skeletal maturity (
Link Here). Do you think this could be exploited by MTFs to help with pelvic widening (note that the actual bone only widens about 1 inch over the course of 50 odd years)
If you know anything else about the pelvis or bones in general (pertaining to transgendered persons) then please feel free to add on anything that was not mentioned above in your post.
Thanks,
Thanata
