It makes me cringe when I hear someone say "I always wanted a son" or vice versa. It is the start of a pre determined gender straight jacket for any child. Even worse, in some countries there are people terminating pregnancies because the child isn't a boy or a girl as their wishes would dictate.
There's nothing wrong I guess with wanting a daughter, just keep in mind she might be born with a penis.

I wonder if my parents said something like "we want another daughter", and instead, they have a trans man son.
I don't think "letting them choose the gender they want to be" is the correct thing to say though, because we trans people don't choose our gender, I didn't choose to be male, it just happened to me that I was born a male in a female body. I don't know if it makes sense....
Anyway, even though trans people are a minority compared to cis people, there's always the possibility of a trans birth. I'm not interested in kids, I don't want them and my girlfriend doesn't either, but if I wanted them I would never say "I want a son or daughter", because after all, humans are humans, and gender isn't as relevant as society makes it to be.

I think we should be careful not to promote potentially cissexist ideas.
