Hi all I was wondering if after having bilateral orchiectomy counts as having SRS surgery to change the gender marker on your birth certificate in Australia,
As I have contacted the sydney office of Births Deaths and Marriages and I cant get definitive answer from them ?

Cheers Tracy

My understanding is that you need full GRS to "qualify" for a gender marker change in NSW (and the legislation around this is State and Territory based, not Federal).

Yes it varies from state to state. You don't need SRS in SA. I think Vic is the same.

It will depend on where you were born, which state which country. If you were born in Adelaide call the SA BD&M not Sydney.

I just did it in Vic, I had the srs surgeon sign it and a gp after confirming I'd had srs.

QuoteThe Act defines "sex affirmation surgery" as a "surgical
procedure involving the alteration of a person's reproductive
organs carried out for the purpose of assisting the person to
be considered to be a member of the opposite sex".

I would take that mean to SRS. Though ultimately if the doctors signing it consider an Orchi this, then that's all you need to do.
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.
