North Carolina May Lose Federal Funding for Passing Anti-LGBT Bill

The Advocate/By Yezmin Villarreal April 02 2016 12:40 PM EDT

"North Carolina has faced intense pressure to repeal House Bill 2 from major businesses such as Apple and Facebook, but now it may lose billions of dollars in federal funding for passing the anti-LGBT bill.

The Obama administration is in the process of considering whether HB2 makes the state ineligible for federal funding for schools, highways, and housing, reports The New York Times. HB 2 bans transgender people from accessing public facilities like bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity, eliminates all existing LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination ordinances in the state, and prohibits cities from adopting any new ones. Hard for me to believe that Obama would pull the trigger on this, but stranger things have happened. He's in his last year and has nothing to lose.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

I'm a little uncertain myself.  Besides his IDGAF level, this is also the point where Presidents start getting obsessed with their "legacy."  The 2016 elections are something of a referendum on his administration and on at least some level he's got to be calculating whose base gets more excited if he takes action here.  There's also the matter that American economic performance under Obama has been historically bad and blowing up an entire state's economy is probably not the way he wants to go out.  There are a lot of angles to work through, and only he can tell us which way he's going to go.
When in doubt, ignore the moral judgments of anybody who engages in cannibalism.

I suppose the sentiment is nice but NC sucks enough, please don't turn it third world. Or if you do, make some of that money available to help people gtfo.

All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
