Anyone ever wanted to travel for a while?

I've been thinking lately about travelling the world during my transition, but want to know the ins and outs of it. All I've ever done is stay in the same place, I've never had a gap year and spent over 20 years in education flat out, and I want to go see the world, chase my dreams of learning developing my martial arts training to a higher level and maybe even be able to run a school for it when I return. I figured I will need quite a few thousand pounds to do it, but I can start saving asap.

Has anyone tried to travel for a year or two? That's what I'm hoping to do at least. Ideally I'd start transition a bit before and use the period of learning as my way of preparing for my new life on my return, though its just a fantasy right now in my head

I love to travel and then, getting home is so so sweet too.  I am old and had a number of colleagues who took a year off from their careers to travel.  We have never regretted the wealth of experience from taking those journeys.  Exploration and exposure to new people and places is a different kind of education and of real value.

I just got back from Arizona, the Grand Canyon and more.  Fun to mingle with people from all over the world and hear/see so many different cultures at play interacting.  You will find resistance to the idea that are fear based.  Forgetaboutit and go!

It starts with a dream and vision you are already seeing ;D

I think it is very healthy to see how other people live. I did a two year gig for the Mormon church in Chile. I regret going but the experience was an eye opener for me. I've also been to other countries on business. I've usually taken extra time to go play tourist.

What I'd love to do is go live in New Zealand for a year or so, but the health insurance thing is a huge issue for me. I love to go to new places, what I hate is the getting there part. I call it the airport shuffle.
