A note about the upper-lip, my electrologist when ready to perform electrolysis on my upper-lip strongly suggested that I make an appointment with the dentist in the same building to have him numb my upper-lip area. She had special arrangements with him so all I needed to do was tell him I was working with Pat, my electrologist. To be truthful as it's been over 15 years one thing I do remember is that I would sometimes fall asleep while she was doing my upper-lip. The numbing allow her to go much faster than if she had to deal with me dealing with pain. Not everyone has issues with the upper-lip but I knew I would so this was great to have the lip desensitized.

You're lucky.  I can't find anyone willing to do a dental block where I live.  I asked two dentists, and they flat-out refused. I try to make do with ice, but it still can hurt like the dickens, especially right under the nose.

Hi Terri,

May I suggest trying to apply Aspercreme one hour prior to having the upper-lip done then follow up by placing cellophane over the area. Get to the appointment a few minutes early and apply more Aspercreme. I learn this from having a procedure for rejuvenating facial skin where it's very painful but the Aspercreme and cellophane made it bearable. It should help to some extent for the upper-lip.

Before I started HRT I didn't have a lot of facial hair (there was hardly any hair growth on my cheeks, and the hair that grew on my upper lip was blonde; the hair on my chin and neck was a mixture of light and dark), and I didn't have any body hair, just a mixture of light and dark hair on my arms and legs. After I started HRT I still had to have laser and electrolysis to get rid of the hair on my face and neck, but my arm and leg hair turned white and is very thin and very sparse; I can go 2 months without shaving my legs.
