Ive had enough of everything!!

I feel asthough im on my own, im getting no help and i really hate myself!
Ive alwys tried to stay strong and have a positive outlook on life, but seriously what is the point!

I was reffered to the gender clinic in the UK 2 and a half years ago and the 'help' ive recieved has been abysmal!
I was told before i can be accepted for hormone therapy that i must get a job where im living as a woman! So 6 months ago i went out and i got a new job where i could live in role. I hoped that this would be the start of my new life, and that i could finally move on and be happy for once in my life! However . . . six months later, and im still not on hormones! Ive been accepted for hormone therapy about 2 months ago, but still im not on hormones, ive been told that a letter has been sent out to my GP, however after numorous phone calls, im still being told that no letter has been recieved!! Now i know that hormone therapy isnt the be all and end all, however im getting no help for my emotional state either!!!

Im just another number to them, i feel they seriously wouldnt care if i was to no longer exist!!
Im getting no help, im constantly angry, upset and hugely unconfident. I feel that there is no future for me, and i dont want to carry on like this!!! I constantly feel sick, and am fed up of being scared to leave my house due to the fact people keep looking at me!! Im sick of going to work and being reffered to as him and he, Enough is enough, i seriously need help, but have nowhere to turn!!

Please will someone help me!!!!!! I dont know what to do and im really scared!!!

It's tough I know. You have every right to be upset. Try to remember that you are young & have a nice long life ahead for you. Go back to whatever places you need to go & knock on their door until they do something to help you. It's not your fault. Unload your frustration on them....Then try to be patient I guess. Maybe this helps you, I hope it does.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

I seriously cannot believe they're still doing that "you have to live as a woman" before they give you HRT run around. I don't really know how the UK system works but I had thought they'd moved on from that nonsense. I hope some of the other UK ladies can give you some guidance to find your way into a more supportive system. Hopefully it can get better for you quickly.

I am going through helen webberely at the moment, online clinic with good prices, completely legitimate and she is a registered NHS doctor. At the moment I am waiting for my blood test results, then I can send them to her, once she takes a look and makes her assessment I can get started, maybe you should try this route  :)
Less drama, more action!

I would highly suggest contacting your GIC and asking for the letter to be handed to you personally so you can give it to your GP in person - they are notorious for taking forever to send letters. It took them around 6 months to send me the "please return these forms with your current details to confirm you still want to attend" letter.

The requirement to be living the RLE before being eligible for HRT is potentially dangerous. It's just so cruel!

Hi,

The UK system for transgender care is extremely overloaded.  They do not have enough doctors to care for everyone.  The delays are intentional.  They beleive of you are serious, you will wait or give up.  Either way they get to ease imediate demand. You can go private as noted above or you are going to have to do things like go down, ask for the letter or an official copy and then not leave until you get it.  You need to harass in the nicest way possible.  Call up, ask for something while being extremely courteous and full of gratitude.  But calling as often as you can.

I wish it was different.

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Just hang in there Zoe.  Take one day at a time, and never give up on you.  Even though others give up on you.  They don't matter, and you will look back someday and see that.

Sorry to hear the GIC machine is still failing the very people it's meant to help. You're further down the road than me, but the impression I had from my first assessment with them was that they would be little help. I now view them purely as a route for funded GRS down the road, but HRT and effective therapeutic support will only come from the private/self-funded route. Hang in there, be as proactive as you can, keep chasing them. Also contact your local Healthwatch team. I am actively reporting back to my local team on the quality (or lack of) of care I'm getting from the GIC and NHS.

Another big thumb up for Dr W, been with her through the majority of transition and it's a tiny cost to pay, instant HRT :) The GIC's are more than useless here, in fact the whole system is!! Hopefully you'll get the result you want but deffo give Dr Webberly a shout, you'll be looked after there :D
