Hi,
I think I've posted before about this but I'm still looking for feedback from other recent Meltzer patients. My surgery is 11/16/17 and I have some questions, specifically about the aftercare. thx yall :)

I have walked on person all the way through the process and I am knowledgable about the office and the hospital. I have also spent a fair amount of time with another. Combined with the knowledge of my surgery, I can probably answer most of your questions. Sounds like you are going to have a very exciting turkey day.

Hi Dana,
Thank you! I'm mainly wondering how the care was with the hospital nurses, I'm completely confident Meltzer's team will be excellent but wondering about the aftercare provided by the regular hospital staff. I'm assuming that's who I'll mostly be dealing with in the recovery center, how much advocating is necessary? Are they responsive to specific needs of GCS patients? In general, how was the care? Will I need someone with me the entire time to make sure I'm getting proper care? I'll have my mother with me but she's older and can't be with me the whole time.

The nursing staff is great and you could do it without any assistance. Besides that, Dr. Meltzer's staff is available should there be an emergency. One of the girls had her surgery and after her mother seen she was fine, her mother took off with all her luggage and her after surgery care kit. The office was able to replace what was needed. You also get a daily visit form the doctor and if there is any issue with the staff, bring it up with the doctor and it will be quickly corrected.

There are 24 rooms in the patient area and only a few times during the week will you find most of them occupied. Normally about half are used and on week ends, it's only Dr Meltzer's and Dr Ley's patients. They cut the staff back but there are enough people on duty to care for all your needs.

I live about 25 miles away from the hospital and while I have some commitments, I can be called on for help or company. The are starting to know me pretty well around there.   ;D
