I had my surgery in Thailand. My issues began immediately but, when I raised questions I was told "don't worry, it's nothing, everything is fine".... After a few weeks when I was home, I went to get checked by my GP because I was worried, she said she wasn't sure and didn't really want to look inside for fear of damaging healing external tissues (I agreed). She suggested I try pelvic floor exercises to strengthen muscles etc.. A couple of Months later, I had a proper check and they discovered the problem (the aforementioned hole/exposed bladder) so, I've been on a preventative dose of antibiotics since mid December to ward off infection. Unfortunately, while public health is free, it's also slow, so I'm on waiting list after waiting list to try to be seen, in the hopes they'll know what to do. I contacted my surgeon the second the problem was discovered. His response was "you did this to yourself by having sex and/or dialating incorrectly" I've not had sex, and so far as dialating, I followed the instructions. The surgeon then offered to perform sigmoid colon surgery to repair it (at the full price, naturally)
Basically, my options now seem to be a buccal graft (skin from inside my mouth) to try to patch me up, or having the majority of my vagina closed.... With any luck, my bladder will survive without too much more damage for the time I'm on waiting lists.
For anyone considering going to Thailand, be prepared that things can and do go wrong, and when they do, you're on your own. I'm not saying don't go. Even with my failed surgery, I prefer it, to what I had before but, be prepared.
