So I've been on HRT for about 2 and a half months, about a week ago I started having some killer constipation issues. I couldn't eat more fiber if I broke into a rug store and devoured their entire product line, I'm probably California's worst enemy if the drought is still a thing because I drink ALL the water, and being that a bicycle is my main mode of transportation after getting into a car accident I'm plenty active. My diet is low in potassium, I don't drink, or smoke anything.  There is literally no reason for me to be having this problem. My doctors keep throwing laxatives at me, but I don't think that I can rely on laxatives for literally every bowel movement.

I'm beginning to worry that it may be the Spironolactone, I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with Constipation while on this?
If so, are there alternatives to spiro? (Other than surgery, which I would gladly just do but they won't let me even get on a waiting list until it's been a full year.)

I was having constipation for the first week but then it stopped and I was fine after that but that first week I just kept eating broccoli and that seemed to help me.

I know what you mean. Annoying issue indeed. I used to have a sandwich every morning with my coffee but I replaced the bread with 2 apples and an asian pear or orange. That seems to have solved the issue. I used to eat fiber serial, supplements, metamucil the whole nine yards and non of it did anything. Fruits seemed to be the solution. I know it's hard to stay hydrated if you cycle a lot, because I run 9 miles 4 times a week. I think I drink about 2.5 to 3.5 liters of water per day.....

It's important to eat enough salt on Spiro.
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience
