Hi,

I have upcoming SRS surgery in Thailand with Dr. Chettawut performing his non-penile inversion technique.
I am concerned about acheiving a satisfactory depth after reading that existing internal scar tissue could potentially threaten ideal results. Three years ago I had an inguinal hernia repair and a plastic mesh implant. I'm curious if anyone knows if that would cause the kind of internal scarring that would hamper best case results?

Has anyone had an inguinal hernia repair then non-penile inversion SRS?

Thanks in advance,

xoxo Deborah

I think you'd best ask Dr Chettawut.

Of course I will, i was just curious if anyone had first hand experience of this.

mmmmm

Mind you Im not a doctor, but if I understand correctly inguinal hernia is on outer surface. The problems with achieving adequate depth while performing ressection are adhesions that are formed inside, between rectum/sigmoid colon and penile area. This adhesion scar tissue inside is what makes a ressection a lot more complicated, with much higher risk for possible complications. And some surgeons who dont have adequate training for such complicated ressections, will rather choose less depth instead of possibly making a mistake and causing severe complication...

Thanks mmmmm for your reply and not being a doctor I would have assumed the same.

I did however just receive a response from the Dr's staff regarding the subject and wanted to post it here to help anyone if the topic comes up again in the future...

Dr. Chettawut have operated some patients who had undergone inguinal hernia repair without problem with the depth. This can only be determined during the surgery. We assure you that Dr. Chettawut will do his best to achieve the maximum depth for you even if he finds some scar inside. He will carefully do the dissection, then he will judge if going further will still be safe for you or not. Dr. Chettawut normally achieves 6-7 inches depth.
