We definitely have the antitrans backlash here too... but it reminds me a lot of the antigay backlash when we were on the verge of legalizing gay marriage (2005). I am hoping so because that died down quickly and within a year or two all but the most homophobic extremists just didn't care or considered gay marriage a good thing. I am truly hopeful that, once all the hoopla dies down, most of my fellow Canadians will go back to not caring about other people's genitalia.
