a short, stout, stick... and give them both a jolly good thrashing...imagine the Faulty Towers episode with Basil whipping his car >:-)

I had all this trouble with Electrolysis pain and got a special compound recipe for anesthetic cream. No problems get the script filled and go to use it. This is very strong stuff and you need to use caution when using it and only for a certain period of time etc etc...So I find out to tonight that the ointment I thought was a certain strength had actually had its active ingredients reduced because they were "out of guidelines" and the Chemist and my Dr had discussed it...but no one told me I was getting a different compound before I paid my money. Had I known that it was not the same then I would have applied it differently and certainly for much longer. It may have been working at about 50% capacity but not enough to tolerate any more than a 30-minute session of Electrolysis and only if I take frequent short 10-second breaks.

Someone should have told me so I could adjust the way it was applied accordingly...My Dr didn't seem to think he should be responsible for telling me even though he authorised it, maybe it should have been the chemist ??? ??? ???

Testing today using the normal amount I would but leaving it on for two hours instead of one as instructed and its effectiveness was way better than anything I have experienced with it before. Sigh!

AnonyMs

Did you cover it with cling wrap? I hear you're supposed to do that for some reason.

I tried everything I could think of but because its so strong I was advised to use sparingly and only an hour before the procedure. I actually use a specialised plastic type dressing that seals around the area with the ointment in between to prevent it dripping and escaping. The research I have done on these kinds of anaesthetics tell me the longer it goes on the better coverage you will get...today I will use the ointment as I have been except this time I will use much more and leave it for a minimum of two hours maybe 3 and see what the results are. Yesterdays experiment showed me that 2 hours makes a big difference...I stuck myself half a dozen times with a syringe needle, deep enough to draw blood and felt a slight prick...I was meticulous in the way it was applied  but again it spread so I didn't get a full representation of what the correct amount applied correctly can do.

I watched and read more about this and my Dr also explained in great detail last night how it works and he agreed it needed toi be on for much longer than I was.
