I've been wearing foundation for the past 3 years while going outside because I needed to cover my face like a mask for fear of being seen as male. these past 3 days I ran out and just didn't feel like spending 7 bucks for it. So I've been trying going  facially  naked accept for eyeliner and false eyelashes which I'm totally dependent on . I survived. Although foundation does good at covering my age spots.

Pretty awesome for you to take on that fear, sometimes I have problems doing that. Recently purchased some clothes but pre HRT, hair still kinda short, that 5 o'clock shadow, and skills with makeup that usually yields a result more suited to The Joker I am pretty nervous wearing them in public. Trying to get over it though. I just dont want to get hurt, that's all.

I've always been afraid to go without it

Was there any difference in how people reacted to you?

Well once the HRT took effect there is no difference, but I was too affraid to try going out without makeup if I was wearing a dress. Now, it doesn't seem to make much difference although I still can't figure out if woman stare because I look like Greta Garbo or a man in a dress.
