US House passes bill that would 'gut' Obama's LGBT rights protections

"The US House of Representatives has given its approval to an amended bill that would strip Barack Obama's executive order on LGBT rights.
At present, federal anti-discrimination laws do not protect people based on sexual orientation or gender identity, as Republicans have long blocked any legislation introducing specific protections.
President Obama sought to circumvent Congress in 2014 by issuing an Executive Order that outlawed anti-LGBT discrimination in the workplace for federal contractors, providing some limited protections."

I've heard the postwar era described as a magical time when the economy was great, unions were strong, families were intact, taxes were reasonable, foreign relations excellent, good and evil clear, and so forth.  Admittedly, this glosses over a fair bit (Hello, Dr. King...) but nostalgia is a powerful lens.

I begin to think the part we should miss most from that era is that the GOP was about actual, you know, politics.
When in doubt, ignore the moral judgments of anybody who engages in cannibalism.

Will never make it through the Senate. Say what you will about our government, but the check and balances that were designed into the constitution have saved this country from complete disintegration of democracy more than once.
