I live in Alberta (and have for my entire life) and I am not surprised. The opposition to this bill is coming entirely from adults and a small minority at that. It is primarily coming from conservative, Christian parents with less than average education levels. Most people in the province don't really have a problem with trans kids using the bathrooms of their choice. Even among those who are struggling with the legislation, most are opposed to the wording that says schools do not have to inform parents about their child's gender identity or sexual orientation (basically if a child comes out to a counsellor or teacher that information will be kept confidential). That said, the bigots are loud and angry... but this time the trans rights activists are equally loud and angry and most people are on our side.
