We don't seem to have a thread for this yet, so I figured I'd start one.

This is for anyone who enjoys playing tabletop RPGs.

I've been an avid player of D&D 3.5 since I started running a campaign in 2008. It ran for two years and proved to be quite popular, and afterward I wound up playing in another 3.5 campaign and moving on to Pathfinder, where I've been a regular at Pathfinder Society games. I also started running a couple of Pathfinder campaigns that didn't quite work out.

Anyhow, I've started an ongoing diary for my primary Pathfinder Society character, which I created near the end of 2014. It will also reveal a little about my thoughts behind the character, which should prove rather insightful.

I love it. Been playing for ages, in the old times mainly WoD (Changelling rocks), but also indie by my GMs.

Making my own world, very LGBT friendly. ;)
X% of male inside.

I've been playing d&d  5e with a regular group for past year. First time playing a r p g.  I tinkered with the marvel one in the 80s when I was a kid. Playing a half-orc war cleric.

Pathfinder is when I really got into tabletop. Usually when I play there is some sort of chaos involved, such as when my elf character had a pony (who was too tall to ride it) which eventually acquired battle armor and when we went on a ship she had to have her own private stable on the lower deck. Also had a god owl that always rolled 20s and escaped seemingly inescapable situations. My half-elf was draconic, but he didnt get ability to fly until campaign ended, so stairs were my worst nemesis cause I would lose most of my health by falling down them.

I really enjoy playing those, but often its with a group that you don't know too well that blatantly ignores that my character is male and focus on my perceived gender instead, so that is uncool. Eventually I joined a smaller group where one of my friends was which was easier to explain things to, even though it still took months.

I also GMed my first Dragon Age tabletop RPG campaign this year and it is still going over Skype. I didn't have enough people interested, but I managed to tailor it to a small number and still keep it interesting.

I can honestly say that 95% Of my friends I have because of RPG's. I started back in the late 90s with the D&D red box and shortly there after the AD&D 2ed manuals, today I run D&D Encounters on wednesdays at my local game store, only one of the players knew I was trans before I showed up fem one day told them my name was Serena, Hope you don't have a problem with it and if you insult my outfit know that I have full control over your characters life and death :-P

In between those two events I have run/played/owned a few other games. D&D, AD&D, D&D3e, D&D4e. D&D5e, the whole WOD universe and half of new WOD. (YAY changeling 20th kickstarter going on now!!) several games by eden games studios, the marvel universe diceless system which I love, the old West end games star wars D6 system, the D20 star wars, star wars saga edition and even playtested the new star wars from fantasy flight. I have also played almost all of fantasy flight games warhammer 40K RPG's. there are dozens of PDF's on my phone for various games There are at least a few dozen more games I own and have run or played but this list is long enough, suffice it to say that being a gamer geek is a bigger part of my identity than being transgender, a woman, or really anything else.

Well I better get back to playing WOW.

Serena, AKA Avaron, AKA Valwen, AKA Ardea, AKA Sir Elrose, AKA I swear I will have a name next session.
What is a Lie when it's at home? Anyone?
Is it the depressed little voice inside? Whispering in my ear? Telling me to give up?
Well I'm not giving up. Not for that part of me that hates myself. That part wants me to wither and die. not for you. Never for you.  --Loki: Agent of Asgard

I've played all sorts of tabletop RPGs before. I don't care which game it is, as long as I can have fun with whoever I'm playing with. I'm taking a break from it for a little bit because I'm having some issues with my current group (two of them annoy the hell out of me), but I have some more stuff planned soon.

I have always been a much stronger fan of scifi over fantasy and as such my initiation into the world of tabletop started in 1994 in a friend's home created sci-fi rpg. Once I had access to more materials after entering the urban setting of University, a friend introduced me to Cyberpunk 2020.  :)

Later on an old childhood friend introduced me to D&D second edition and we transitioned to the 3.0 system together. Fortunately for me, a different friend and much better DM reintroduced me to D&D 3rd edition with a better group.

Currently I still am playing the 5th edition of Shadowrun with some of the same friends I made at the University through gaming, in a group that now includes my now adult sibling. :D

Gamer for life! ;)

Oh hey Jamie, I started with D&D 3.5 too in 2006! We found a mysterious "beginner box" in my friend's closet and decided to give a shot and, well, I've been gaming ever since.

I've mostly stuck to D&D, 3.5 and Pathfinder are hits although I love me some 5e. I'd like to convert to 5th but I'm in the middle of running a lengthy Pathfinder campaign and we're not exactly able to convert until we've wrapped things up.

Sadly, I haven't had the chance to play much else except for one-shots. Warhammer 40k Death Watch and Rogue Trader are both fun, especially the ship building of the latter ("Wait we're responsible for the lives of the thousands of crew members aboard?!"). The Dragon Age RPG by Green Ronin is pretty good too and I especially like their stunt system. Gamma World 4e is an absolute blast and any RPG where you can potentially play a sentient swarm of kittens is not one to be overlooked!

Variations on 3.5 though, I've played a ton ranging from Avatar: The Last Airbender, to Mass Effect, and to a lot of different home-brewed systems.

I'm always willing to try more games and add them to my collection!

I love tabletop RPGs! Most of the trans people where I live play them as well. Why do they seem to be so much more popular among trans people?

I've been wanting to get back into tabletop rpg's for a while now. When my gender dysphoria became overwhelming last year I thought I could relieve it by going back to table to RPGs, spent hours going through the rules on how a character could change genders in game and wishing magic were real.
Never did find a group to play with though, my gamer friends arnt interest in RPGs right now.

Possibly because they are a way of presenting and interacting with people as one's target gender without having to visibly do so and face rejection?

Got it in one sister! :D  My therapist suggested my roleplaying habit is what allowed me to avoid a breakdown as long as I did.

I read the title of this thread and wondered why anyone on this forum would be talking about Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs).

Anybody ever play tabletop RPGs online with either Roll20 or Tabletop Simulator? If so any preference to one or the other?

So far I've enjoyed Roll20 far more than Tabletop Simulator. In this case, simplicity is better because TS is limited to its existing features and Roll20 is not. TS is also not free, so some people might not be able to use it with you. TS has a lot of potential for updates and modding, so it might improve, but right now I'm still waiting for it to get there.

I've got a fun campaign of D & D 5e going on 6 months now.  Even managed to drag my wife into the hobby (only took years of bugging).  It's great because I have finally brought the group around to be very engaged in the story and actively wanting to shape their destinies.

I audio record every session and post it in a shared drip box folder.  This allows me to go back and listen for things I missed during play.  It also allows everyone to listen to the progress they made since session 1.  We had a player join a few sessions in and he was completely up to speed with the campaign because he listened to all the audio beforehand.

I have played many systems over the years across multiple genres.  Primarily my friends and I have done D & D and WEG Star Wars.  I do miss playing Top Secret, though.

I've only been playing DnD for a few years and I love every moment of it..!
It's more or less killed my desire for army building for other tabletop games, I'm much more content painting, customizing and modifying individual characters for roleplaying than the hundreds of identical soldiers. =/
I currently have one group DM'd by my older brother, and will be running 2 other groups myself. (A modern zombie apocalypse campaign, and a *STAR WARS* campaign <3)

slowly moving towards 5th. 4th was rubbish.
