Aloha. On June 27,  I am scheduled for breast augmentation surgery.  I am so excited!!!!  But what's it like, having new boobies?  And I was wondering if anyone here has had the surgery, and would be willing to give me some ideas on how I can get thru this with a parade of colours.  I can't wait till this happens.  It's like waiting for my parents to wake up on Christmas morning, so I can reopen my already opened Christmas gifts!! I digress. I'm also talking real life.  Like, if I'm a 35c after the surgery, what bra size should I buy.  Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Stephanie Garrett
Don't really know what to write here...  So I'll just write a little about myself.  For conciseness, I am a 48 y/o pre-op transsexual who's in a wheelchair.  I'm wheelchair bound due to AVN(avascular necrosis) which took three and a half inches from my right femur and I acquired due to HIV.  I got infected by the first man I was ever with.  So, after spending 40+ years in Texas and getting three felonies, I decided to move to San Francisco.
I got here in 2010 and continued to drug myself until something happened...  I don't remember exactly what happened, but I do know I did something to ease my pain, which didn't help and I ended up in the ER.  After that, mind you I could still walk, barely, I was diagnosed with avascular necrosis.  Immediately I was sent to a hospital in really bad shape.  I was addicted to a copious amount of drugs and weighed less than 90lbs.  I was near death.  I spent two and a half years in hospital, quit drugs, got my own place and am doing quite well.

cant answer your new boobie question but about the bra size, all you have to do is measure your underbust (directly under the boob) to find your band size. So say you measure at 35, a 36 or 38 would be the bands you'd wanna try, if those feel too tight still then try a 40..hope that makes sense. Then look for your band size and try various cup sizes that look like they'll fit, take an educated guess. Experiment at any clothing store till you find sizes that feel comfy. Once you know what cup sizes fit you best then you can start online shopping for bras, just check the sizing guides on whatever site you use cause sometimes they can be different and read the reviews.

My advice on bras, after your surgery and the swelling has gone down do to a good bra shop or department store and get fitted.  When shopping for a new bra always take several into the dressing room and try them on and bend and turn to see how it fit; do this until you find one that feel good, every manufacturer and bra style will be slightly different.

First off, like any major surgery one can get constipated so with that I ate plenty of fruit to counteract this.

After waking up I truly didn't feel much different which I account to wearing quality breast forms for years.

For the first four days there was some pain which was subdued with pain meds. I was very fortunate to have a very close friend tending to my every need, without her it would had been difficult to go through this by myself so I highly recommend having someone assist at least for the first three or four days.

It's been one year since BA and really don't notice them but do love having them.

I did find I had to adjust how I shave and made a decision to have underarm hairs removed which I have been working on for the past three months, one hour session each month. Would do more but don't have the time.

I was on cloud nine when I had mine done, but it was painful for the first couple of weeks, and 5 years later I'm still on cloud 9; I absolutely ❤️ my boobs!

The newness factor was very cool. I had quite a bit of pain after surgery. Most of the was due to the skin being stretched. But I went bikini shopping the next day. I had drains I had to wear for a week or so. Mine were inserted through the armpits and I have no scars. It has been thirty years and they have become encapsulated which seems like the norm from anyone I've ever talked to. The only solution is to have them removed or replaced.

If I had it to do over, I wouldn't get them because of the encapsulation.

Do you mean capsular contractiure where scar tissue forms around the implant and makes the capsule contract which makes the implants harden? This is a complication that can occur; my PS advised me to do daily massages for the first 6 months post op to prevent this from happening, and thankfully I haven't had any post op complications, and I was also advised that we are supposed to have our implants replaced every ~10 years.

It was a nice but not weird feeling to wake up with augmented breast. At first you stare at them a lot then the more the time pass the more you get used to it and end by just forgetting you have them lol. They are just part of me now and it only has been like 4 month

I'm turning all shades of green.  I've cried staring at my flat chest literally every day this weak.

I was super jealous of everyone that had breast implants when I had to wear breast forms, but eventually I was able to get mine done, so just be patient and make a plan that will allow you to have yours done as well.

Yup. That's what happened. I massaged mine and "popped" the scarring for years as instructed by my surgeon. They remained pliable for 20 years or so. It has been thirty years now. I don't have the inclination to do anything about therm. I'm unlikely to have any relationships at this point. Getting them removed or replaced is a huge expense as well. I really would like them gone.

One thing that everyone should consider before they get implants.... if you sleep on your stomach, you may not be able to do so after you get implants. It's sort of like sleeping on a couple of tennis balls.

My wife had her BA about 30 years ago (silicone) with no issues at all. They were regularly 'massaged'  ;). Ditto on the stomach sleeping, or rolling over onto your other side. You'll be reminded not to try that again, and again, and again till it sinks in.

Since she was very physically active back then, her current crop of general health issues has us a bit worried about leakage being a root cause for some of them. But, there doesn't seem to be any loss of volume at all. Like KittenPower said, after 30 years, they are there to stay unless it's an emergency.
