Hello reader,

my apologies if im posting in the wrong category

So, ive been on hormones for 4 years and have been living full time for 3 years plus i have neglected to have my name "legally" changed which has become a big embarrassment for me. i do understand the process (petition, background check, etc.) involved with having my name "legally" changed but everytime i start to think about it ill have MASSIVE anxiety attacks - Mostly im just scared sh!tless about embarrassing myself.

does anyone know if it possible to have an attorney to take care of everything? mostly i just dont want to stand in a packed courtroom revealing my status to strangers - especially after the pulse shooting. there must be a (low-key / under the radar) way of accomplishing this task? right?

anyone?

Hey there.

I also live in the state of Florida and definitely want to change my name. The issue isn't anxiety in front of the court room; it's lack of finances. The money I do have is only for emergencies and paying off some debt. If finances were not an issue, I would have my name changed in a heartbeat. I have generalized and social anxiety but I guess I want to change my name so badly that I wouldn't allow that to stop me.

I have had anxiety attacks and yes, they are awful enough, but to have massive anxiety attacks must feel like death itself! Have you ever considered writing down what you need to say in court in advance? Maybe bring a friend along to be by your side? Ask yourself, "What are some things I usually do hen I feel very anxious?"
