Looks like I retired too early

At the meeting of the Delta Employees Equality Network on June 7th, the topic was "Being Transgender."  Local trans man, attorney, activist and HRC board member Ames Simmons spoke to the meeting.  The president of Delta Air Lines (who by the way is an out gay man) announced a newly updated and very supportive transgender company policy.  It includes greater transgender protections in anti-discrimination policies and transgender health care which I understand includes surgeries.  I'm so glad to see all of this to get Delta back to a 100 HRC rating for current trans employees and so that others are not denied promotions as, I still suspect, I was near the end of my career due to a rumor about me being trans.  I wonder if Delta would take me back after 15 years of retirement?

I remember a 'transgirl' working the B concourse Crown Room.

Been 8 years for me Bev. Miss the friends not the job..
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

They might take you back as a transgender adviser. I can vouch that you have had a good deal of experience dealing with others on the site.

I didn't know anyone working the Crown Room here so I missed her.   As far as not missing the job but missing the friends, you and me both hon.  Especially the job.  When I retired as midnight shift coordinator in ATLRES, my supervisor told me I had 37 separate job functions.

Thank you, Dena.

Didn't know you were in RES. All we're tough jobs for sure worked everything but . . . . lol you would have "YOUR FIRED" me for sure! Spent last three years ATL bagroom had lotsa fun but gee we worked like dogs, the summer heat unbearable! Miss being in great physical shape at 6' short wound up less than 160lbs sweat passing out on my feet!

Used to go home completely DRENCHED from drinking the iced KOOL AIDE (unsweetened) all day long.

Many stories to tell was SENIOR so few dared mess  . . . someone nicknamed me 'ponytail' cause tired hair back post dress policy change (before that was balled up under hat). One ramp 'old timer' couldn't stand it used to bark "why don't you cut your hair" & "ya look like a girl" to which I finally replied "as long as not an ATTRACTIVE girl to YOU what do you care!?

I really do miss 'the boys' became pretty FLAME BRAZEN toward the end!

Bastain gay? Would work RES from home surely everything has changed I suspect they only hire IDIOTS now. Was taught the old 'keycode' system under DELTAMATIC where you built a old paper tkt line by line . . . can't remember Patti's last name who taught me!

Have a great new 'boy job' in Fayetteville making more than before but am becoming a 'lil fatty' for sure!!

Dena you'd be AMAZED what we 'dealt with' on a daily basis! Will never forget the threesome from Alabama checking-in Chicago for 2'nd appearance on the Jerry Springer show!!

Cheers

Actually I know more than you think. My roommate had an A&P license, working on almost everything TWA flew for 25 years. Before that she was responsible for maintaining her B47 early in the cold war. Another not so published fact is BeverlyAnn is a former moderator, something I learned shortly after she returned to the site. She probably has far more experience working the site than I do.

Nooo Wayyy . . . don't remember ever being CHASTISED by her!! Used to be pretty bad around here - 'sense of humor' is not one of this board's strong points. Sooo serious . . . due trans-scarity?

We did promise to get together a couple of times still attend cross-dress meetings Bev? Lord knows I could use some help! With 'ex' constantly tossing stuff OUT maintaining two wardrobes has become expensive!

After "Wendy" left (lol and I moved out) gave up on the Reverend Erin's support group (erinswen.com) and SAGE.

Have NO TIME for anything these days!

LOL  No, I never chastised you.  I was usually too busy putting out flame wars between "she who shall not be named" and anybody who picked a fight with her.  Plus we had specific boards back then we moderated.  At that time I moderated the Religion and the Crossdressing boards.

Yeah, we never did get together did we.  I don't go to any kind of support groups right now although Dee and I are planning on attending Southern Comfort in Fort Lauderdale this year.  First time since 2002.  I spent 10 years taking care of my mom 24/7 after she developed dementia so I didn't have time for anything for me.

I actually met "Wendy" at a panel discussion on the "Religious Freedom" bill a few months ago.

I don't know if you remember but Erin was Parish Associate at my now closed church when I started attending there in 2000.  She became a great friend and is now my therapist.  She wrote my HRT letter for my endocrinologist visit and the letter for my urologist when I had the orchiectomy.

Oh yeah, ticket counter was entertaining wasn't it?  "What do you mean I can't carry my steamer trunk on the plane.  It fit under the seat on the way down here."  ROFL  And as far as going home drenched, remember I worked the ramp in Jacksonville.  Unloading a 757 at 2PM in July in 100 degree heat was always entertaining.
