I'll be having top surgery with Dr. Rumer on Thursday.  Of course, I'm beyond excited.  I'm also starting to get a little nervous.  Anyone have any advice?  I'm staying overnight at her recovery suite.  I have plenty of button downs.  I got bendy straws, scar strips and cream, and spray deodorant.  Any other advice or comforting words?

straws are great, and if you don't have someone with you post op I suggest ordering food or having food that's easy to make like microwaveable meals, snacks, etc.

if you have a hard time sleeping on your back like I do (it's driving me crraaazyyy I have to for at least another couple weeks) use pillows/body pillows to put on each side of you so you won't roll around. and pillows in general to prop you up since they will probably suggest you sleep at about a 45 degree angle. neck pillows have also been a lifesaver for me!

Don't be a hero, take the stool softener.

Get up and walk around as soon as you feel able to do so.

Yeah. A nurse told me to wait a couple of days on stool softener. Bad advice! Start it second day (you're going to limit medications to bare necessities on day 1). I had to drink prune juice when the pressure got too much and that stuff is vile.

Don't be afraid to walk around. I actually walked around outside in the Florida heat (with assistance) and I'm fine. You can only pace so much in a hotel room. The blood circulating is really healthy and protective against complications. If you start to feel like your heart is struggling though, stop stop stop. I walked s l o w l y. And no bending or lifting things.

My fam brought a wheelchair (used to belong to g-parents) so they could take me places so I wouldn't be climbing the walls. Really helped with my mental health.

I wouldn't take the deodorant. You don't want to accidentally spray in open wound.

i agree. best to use just wipes if you smell because you can't shower for a week.

You definitely won't need the scar strips for a bit the incision will need to heal first. Definitely agree with others no no on the deodorant. You're gonna stink so best thing is to try and get some bathing cloths that have no alcohol. I would get a neck pillow too.

As Max said, make sure you get up and walk around every few hours. CONGRATS THOUGH!!!!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I dunno.
