Hark! here I be Ozywomandias .... Queen of Queens look upon my  works ye mighty and despair!

Kidding kidding...just kidding. I'm a total late comer to the party. In my 40s daughters just graduated high school and figuring things out with my amazing wife.  I've always known of course but always put others before myself so it was never the right time to transition. I know everyone is different but found myself becoming progressively sadder as I reflected upon my life. Despair and Regret were almost logarithmic in their growth.  I stopped being social, put on weight and stopped caring about anything. In my apathy the world was grey. I generated income and did whatever was needed of me but took no joy.

I'm early in transition but what an interesting/exciting adventure there is in front of me. Everyone is on a journey through life but transgender people get bonus miles for more roads traveled and I'm excited about that. I have color in my life now, my favorite color is pantone 15-3817  . I am lucky enough to live just outside of Napa,Ca. people are kind and accepting out here. I just joined my first lesbian book club and thats been a joy but watching national news and the 2016 election cycle chilling to say the least. My hope is to meet some good people here and trade stories and learn together. I know it will make my life better and I hope I can be a positive effect on those around me.

cheers

Roses and Songs

I met a traveller from an antique land who said: LOOKING GOOD!

So glad to hear your story, I went through some of the same stuff. When at 45 I re-found out I was a girl, I decided to wait before transitioning not to hurt my mom. My parents divorced in the 70's when my 'father' came out as homosexual so I thought: If she lost her husband to homosexuality and now she looses her only son to womanhood, it's gonna kill her! (putting others before myself) She was 80 at the time so I figured I might have to wait 10, 15 years at the most, not so bad, after all I waited all my life so I can do that; WRONG! After about a year only my livelyhood, sense of purpose, joy and happiness all started to degrade and it got worse and worse. As long as I didn't KNOW, i managed pretty well. I knew I was different but my life was fine, even fun but the hiding started to slowly suck all life from me and it went on like this for about 4 years. My will to live was slowly fading away and so did the colors of the world (!) until one day she took me aside and told me: ''Now you're gonna tell me, what's wrong with you I can't stand seeing you like this anymore!'' Can you imagine a door opening in front of you, well that's what I saw soooo, I told her: ''I'm a girl'', just that, and she said: ''Thank god, I thought you were gay'' so I said ''WHAT, you don't mind'' and she said ''Nooo, you need help?'' WHAT! So that's how I came out and realized I had lost 4 years cause these were really wasted. So you see, I know what living for others feels like and although we have the best intentions in the world, it is ourselves that we destroy in the process but since I realized that, my life keeps getting better and better and I shall never make that same mistake again. Well, that's enough now so I'm glad I could talk to you and I wish the best for you and yours. Take care, Rose.

Hello TC, so you are a Lavender color fan. I fancy PANTONE 219 C. You seem really cool, i hope to see many more posts from you!

PANTONE 219 C  !!!! Heretic! I don't trust you 219-Cers and your strange Barbie ways.

Ok OK I think we can still be friends if I can wear sunglasses..... Seriously nice to meet you Jess. I'm new to all this and the LGBT community and have found everyone quite welcoming. I lived most of my life in the SF bay area so my geeky sarcasm has been weaponized over the years.

Ok your turn... share something interesting about you

Welcome to Susan's Place. Sometimes it seems like we have advice for everything. In this case, I am going to suggest a pen. I have been using this pen for years because what they call purple is very close to the color you like so much. Yes, colors in that range are also my favorite colors as well but I don't really have that much of it around. If there is anything I can help you with, let me know.

I miss CA! Left LA when I was young after the quake. I love your brand of humor BTW! You seem like such a cool person and I like that! So let me welcome you to the amazing world of the trans!

What to share, I am kind of an odd-balll.... My superpower have yet to come in from Amazon(dot)com so I am relativity normal except for the fact that I am Trans and live in terribly humid Florida. Atleast I have Disney! Oh wait you have one of those too! LOL. I work in medicine now, but I was a photographer/graphic-designer in the last 20 years of my existence.

I have been dressing as a woman for a long time (+15 years) just not full time. Only within the last 2 years have I been able to more often, baring family time and work.

Now its your turn! ;-)

Dena, Hey thanks for the pen advice. I've been trying to get used to using an apple pencil but plastic on glass just doesn't feel right to me but I prefer hardcover books to kindle/ipad reading (I just gotta accept my inner odd duck). Dena I have seen you commenting and moderating all over this site..... THANK YOU.... for your work. I sincerely appreciate the effort you and the others have put into keeping this walled garden full of flowers and free of TROLLS! You are an amazing gardener.

Jess, hey sorry about taking a while to get back.  I'm not in the habit(yet) of visiting this site and the last few days(Orlando) have put me in a funk. Claiming to be an odd-ball only makes me like you more Wheeeeee! It's totally worth it to get 2 day shipping super power orders but DO NOT let them pick it for you ( I got make fabric extra soft in the  laundry last time)

Graphic design is super interesting. I don't want to out my dead name but I used to be Technical Director at Pixar, where war was waged over lighting choices, but mostly a magical place. I hope you were not affected by the Pulse tragedy and *hugs* either way
