A question for the girls about peeing

So do any of you post-op girls miss being able to pee standing up?

I don't very often, but on occasion in my less graceful moods I just do.

Perhaps my query is more about whether anyone misses having a choice about it?

I can't speak for being post-op, but I sit at home and stand when I'm in public toilets, especially dirty ones. I think I'd miss that, thought I hear a lot of women "hover".

I am 4 months post-op and I do NOT miss peeing while standing in the least.  It is something that half the world population and I just do. No regrets here.

To be honest, I never had the nerves to try it. My surgery isn't as neat and clean as modern surgeries and the labia are fat with excessive skin that might get in the way if I attempted something like that. I will stick with sitting so I know where everything is going.

I do when I'm halfway up a mountain. I'm actually considering getting one of those devices that would let me do it, because I've had too many times where I had to choose between risking God knows what in my crotch and waiting and hoping desperately that my hiking speed would outpace my bladder.

I have not began to transition and still have those male parts  .  However I have sat or squatted full time ( even when peeing outside) for 19 years and do not miss standing.  I find sitting sitting to be more pleasant and am actually paranoid of the thought of standing.

I've tried to do it a few things since my GCS.

The first time was a out right unsuccessful effort.

I tried in the shower a few times thinking I worked it out, only to fail to hit the bowl each time.

Thought it would be a trick while camping, now I refuse to go camping, the peeing was only the tip of the iceberg.

I got used to it really fast: the day after I was used to it... but I also thought: wouldn't it be nice to be able to stand and just point? because it is easy, practical. 

The moments where I miss this ability, is when I am at a public restroom: Sitting down is impossible, and squatting/hoovering takes a lot of strength and agility/dexterity, especially when you have lower back pain.

Definitely happy not having to look at that alien skin protrusion every time I need a wee but being a bit thrifty by nature I'm also not keen on going through additional toilet tissue

I'm pre-op and never stand.  Mentally ew.  Now with that said, I am getting those paper funnels to help girls do this for when I go camping or places with port-o-potties.  I'll also leave some in my car in case I need to stop at a gas station.  More ew.   The one I was looking at is called "Freedom to Stand" which is disposable and 10 in a box.

I can definitively say that since my regiment for going has been sitting down two years prior to surgery that there is nothing missing in regards to standing up. One tends to adapt when the plumbing changes so my guess is the male method of doing soon will fade away.

almost 2 yrs post, still missing the convenience of it, especially when outside and having to use one of those portable washroom.. not a fan. otherwise when the washroom are sufficiently clean I don't have a problem.

Oh - I hardly even remember how it must have been to stand while peeing. I guess it would be a nice thing in some occasions, but I usually squat in all public toilets - or build a nest of toilet paper if I really have to sit. I often wish, they had those french or asian toilets here as well. You know, those that do not have a bowl and seat but are just designed to squat. It would make sqautting a lot easier actually. But those thingies that you can use to pee standing - I think they are not really that functional. After you used it, you have that thing and it is - well - peed upon. What to do with it? Unless you can wash ist thoroughly after using it, but the places that really scream for using one of these are also the ones that probably do not have the most hygienic place to wash hands either...

Hello, no I don't miss peeing standing up.  Would it be more convenient...but of course.  😋
While I can start with a nice stream it quickly fades out and would make a mess.
How do I know?  Because I pee in the shower, a very simple pleasure.

Anjaq : As someone mentioned, they make disposable pee "thingies." I figure with a paper one, it's no worse than burying toilet paper on a mountain...

I've only recently reached 95% certainty that I'd like GCS/SRS so I'm just evaluating some of the things I *may* miss post-op. For me it's really just a convenience and doesn't even come close to being a reason for not going ahead.

Get in the habit of sitting now.  It will not be long before you find it to be more pleasant and totally get over the idea of standing.  Sitting has not been a problem for me.

No, even pre-op I always sat. When using public washrooms, I always "hover" above the toilet if there's no disposable covers. I agree that if you don't already, you really need to get in the habit before surgery. Something kind of funny is that sometimes when I pee late at night, I will grab for my former organ and realize there's nothing there

Yes, that may be an option - you still would also need toilet paper in addition to that though. What I do not get however is why this is an issue on a mountain? When I am outside, I just squat and pee - its more the man (as in male ) made public toilets that are a massive design flaw because they are made for people to sit down on them but no one really likes to do that for hygienic reasons. I suppose if those paper thingies are soft enough they can just be flushed down or disposed in the waste bin that is usually there for sanitary items in womens bathrooms.

Anjaq : The mountains I hike tend to have a lot of poison ivy. And I'm not very good at recognizing it... (I'm not sure if you have poison ivy in your area, but that is NOT something you want near the tender bits. It gets everywhere once you touch it, too, so to be perfectly honest I'm never 100% sure I don't have some on my hands/clothes while I'm out there.) Also, my impression is that one needs a bit less toilet paper with one of those doohickeys, at least, but either way, I'm more comfortable burying something biodegradable than finding out what happens when I grab/touch something I shouldn't.

I wouldn't risk standing to pee in a women's bathroom out of paranoia about the other *people* in there, so that's moot for me, but I'm sure you're right about the sanitary products bin.
