Hey guys. My name is Mackenzie (for now, my birthname.. been trying out new names but haven't found a good fit, may not even change it) I am a 23 year old transgender man. I came out a little over a year ago. My girlfriend of 2 years and 2 months now has been my biggest supporter and my backbone through all of this. Including our 2 beautiful baby boys who are about to be turning 11 and 9. (My step sons) They have been supportive beyond belief. From using the correct pronouns, correcting other people who don't use the right pronouns etc.. My girlfriend of course calls me her boyfriend. and our boys tell everyone im their new daddy. They usually call me by my first name.. Once in a while they say dad. It's the best feeling. But either way I never force anything on them. I allow them to call me Mackenzie or dad whenever they want to whichever their comfortable with. Anyways.. So I didn't actually start therapy with the gender therapist until January.. I had a very bad experience of being taken advantage of by a counselor in high school and it gave me a very bad outlook on any therapist or counselor. My girlfriend helped me a lot and talked me through and up to starting therapy. I found a therapist, went to my first session and everything was good. Of course right after that my car got smashed and I had no transportation. After the 3rd week of having to cancel because of no ride the therapist told me she is very busy and has too many other patients and her time schedule cannot be messed up or wasted. So it sucked but I understood. I was pretty discouraged for a few months.. Beginning of april I started my search for a new therapist again and I found the therapist I have now. I started my first session the 2nd week of May I believe. Shes amazing. After 3 sessions of seeing her (seeing her every other Wednesday so about over 6 weeks) She gave me my letter. Our third session was last Wednesday. So Thursday morning I immediately called the closest endocrinologists in my area.. The one my therapist recommended and faxed my letter to was booked out all the way until February 28th ugh  :( I started tearing up from the discouragement.. Texting my girlfriend at work she told me to call the other places and see if anyone is available sooner. And sure enough I found an endocrinologist who was only an hour and 15 mins away from me who had an opening July 7th. I had my therapist fax over my letter and a few weeks ago I had the awful experience of going to a gynecologist for the first time. I cried. My girlfriend held my hand the whole time. It sucked but it was worth it in the long run. Got the pap done.. Got bloodwork done. the whole 9 yards. So I called and had them fax over my bloodwork to the endo. The day before yesterday I called to make sure they got the fax of my letter from  my therapist and the bloodwork. Of course they received the letter but no bloodwork. So again I called had the bloodwork faxed once again. I called the endo yesterday morning to make sure they got it and not only did they get the bloodwork but they had a cancellation for yesterday as well. So I was able to go yesterday afternoon. The endo faxed my prescription for T and needles over to my pharmacy. I picked it up last night and I finally got my first injection last night and started my physical transition to being the man I have allways been. It was the best feeling.. Just knowing I got my first injection.. I still cant wipe the smile off my face. I cant wait to start seeing the changes. I am patient because I know it does take time. But im very excited to finally have the process started and I cant wait for myself and also others to notice the changes.

Welcome Mackenzie!  I feel like you should totally go by Mac--that is a great name!  Though my uncle's name was actually Kenzie Cline.  Yes, for real, his mom named him Kenzie!  Congrats on your first T shot!

Hey, Mac! (Yeah, great name )

Welcome to Susan's!  I remember getting my first Rx for T. I drove home grinning, and feeling like I could levitate my whole truck -- it was an amazing feeling.  You're lucky to be starting while you're pretty young -- not too long from now, you'll probably have a hard time recognizing yourself.

Have fun exploring the site -- there are some great resources here, first and foremost the other members.
