OK, so here is my first ever contribution to this thread. I don't think I'm far enough to pass yet but I'd like to hear your honest opinion...

Personality, I think you'd have a hard time passing as a guy. Seriously.

Great picture of you, Jessica. I like the sunglasses on the head and a little hair over your forehead. You pass in my eyes.

I think I'm actually in this very awkward phase where passing as either gender is difficult.

Thank you Rhonda. Comments like yours make me convince myself that there is indeed hope that one day I might be able to just live my life as the real me.

Well, you look great at 55! To be honest, still a little in that androgynous zone. Much longer hair may help. :) You look good though. Keep moving forward! Nice breast growth.
I love dresses!!

This thread has always bothered me.  I'm worried that somebody might not be able to handle what people say about their physical appearance and that could send them into a depression or worse.  What if somebody is told that they can't pass and decides to end it all!??

also,  why are we judging people's potential to pass based on only physical appearance?

I think you brought up a valid point and I agree it's not only our physical appearance that makes us pass or not pass but very often it's impossible to judge yourself because you look at your image in the mirror every day and simply can't see changes others can see.

I don't think though that a negative comment here will hurt as much as a negative real life experience. I rather get tips about my appearance from a very nice and accepting community than hate, laughter or even violence from society because they classify me as a freak...

Just my thoughts

It's the "Do I Look, or Could I Pass, as Female?" thread.  Most of passing is looks, sorry.  Sure, if you have a deep voice but look the part, you ain't gonna pass either, but we are so often seen and rarely heard in public settings.  How many people SEE you in the grocery store vs. HEAR you?

If someone isn't passing and decided to commit suicide based on what strangers on the internet say, they have bigger problems at hand than simply "not passing", sorry :-\

Everyone should remember that there is MUCH more to 'Looks' than facial structure.  Clothing, hair, and makeup have a tremendous effect, along with personal presence factors like movement and posture.

We have folks here who routinely get raves when presenting female, whose current appearance when presenting as male would very likely get a big "thumbs down" in terms of 'Could I Pass'.

Some days I'm still an old gray balding dude with a huge Adams Apple (but not for long), but when I get my act together, I'm very consistently passing.  I'm regularly getting 'girl talk' and normal female-female exchanges with strangers while standing in lines or sitting in a crowded place having lunch.  Now, it may be that all these different folks have clocked me, but still engage in such gender-specific behaviors, demonstrating a radical advance in acceptance across the older generations, but I somehow doubt it.  ;)

Yes passing is a combination of so many things. It takes time, effort and practice to figure out what works for you. If you have the means and opportunity, surgical procedures can help. Confidence is also key.
