Surgery discomfort.

Good evening all you beautiful people!

So earlier today I hit a milestone, I had top surgery.
My questions for this are the levels of discomfort. I am wondering about how long it's expected to last, and when the pain sorta drops off. I seem to be resistant to the pain meds as well as they don't seem to be working.
I know what the surgeon told me but I'm looking for experience within the community.

I didn't have that surgery but I can talk a bit about pain. In my case, I had electrolysis and GCS without any pain medication. Yes I felt it but my tolerance to pain was sufficient that I could live with the pain. Other are not as lucky and need pain medication so they can have some degree of comfort. If the pain medication isn't working, you need to talk with the doctor as there are a large number of different medications and one may be more effective for you. Also doctors often prescribe milder medication that work for most people but you may need one of the more powerful ones. Often pain can last a month or more but it decreases over time and you may find you won't need pain medication for more than a week or two.

There's a genetic variation so that a sizeable percentage of people don't get relief from tramadol, and I assume it's much the same for other painkillers.
