SRS at PAI in Bangkok. Where to stay and other advice/tips?

Hi, everyone

I have finally booked my surgery with Dr. Sutin at PAI in Bangkok for November. I am so soo excited! I have been waiting for this moment for so long, and it is finally here I am sure, everybody here understands that.

I am from India, and there's not much support for me here, and not many to talk to, who have had their surgeries done. So, I am posting here, hoping for some good advice from you awesome people.

1. Where to stay near PAI? I have got some suggestions from them, and they are willing to help with booking as well, but all of their options are mostly above 90 USD per night, which is a little too expensive for me. I want more like under 50 USD.

Anybody who had their surgery done at PAI or in Bangkok, in general, has any suggestions for putting up in Bangkok, please share?

2. What are some must take/advisable things that one is likely to ignore to bring with them, and is needed there? ( I just don't want that moment, and I am already making a list of things to take, like I said, super excited )

Anything else, I should know, about undergoing SRS, recovery, and staying in Bangkok? Please do share resources, if any.

I havent had my SRS there yet, but I have went to Thailand.

I guess if you can, go a few daysearlier for a bit of tourism. Bangkok is amazing.

I stayed at the IBIS RIVERSIDE. I dont think its close to the clinic, but I found it very nice and not so expensive.

Can't do much of tourism. The surgery itself is taking such a heavy toll on the pockets But thank you for the suggestion about the Hotel. I am looking into it

Give a review when u go to this spot .. Are u going to rent the whole apartment ? That's what I plan on doing myself

That is  nonsense.
PAI is on Thonglor  street in the most expensive part of Bangkok and in the middle of the city.

So why is google maps showing a lil small town where pai hospital ...

Maybe it's two hospitals by the name of pai

I'm a PAI girl..and my srs was done by Dr Sutin...he was fantastic.  You will have 7 days in the hospital and by the end of the 7 days you will have had your bandages removed and also the catheder. You will have started walking easily and be able to pee and pooh on your own. The other 2 top surgeons do not have a hospital or if they do then it's not for a week. You will get such excellent care at Piyavate Hospital in a private room. I looked forward to my hair wash around 5 days after surgery ....it was just wonderful to feel normal.   

I agree that airbnb is the lowest cost option. I would suggest that you choose a place close to the clinic. They will send a car to pick you up but Bangkok is notorious for major traffic jams and sitting on a donut is not very comfortable after surgery.There are many options in the area which has great restraunts and other services. Unlike Chett and Suporn, you are in the City in a young thai yuppie area and also full of foreigners ....Japanese, Indians , Westerners etc.

You will also be there when one of my friends from HK will be there. What is your dates and as the time gets closer I will make sure you meet.

My room was large enoigh to accommodate 2 extra guest beds,  I suggest that you discuss this with Jessie, Preechas assistant. I believe there is a small charge.for this.

And as the time gets closer I will intro you to my friend.

I'm with PAI at this very moment and wish I'd picked up this thread sooner.

If you ask Bune for a list of their special rate hotels he will send you a list, some of which are well within your price range. There's one in particular that they use called the Salil Hotel on Thong lor 1 (not the other Salil). It's 5 minutes from the PAI clinic and it's an absolutely gorgeous boutique hotel: 4* very plush with a superb breakfast, swimming pool, lovely quiet side street. The staff are fabulous. The special PAI rate is around 1600 baht for a superior room but if you want a Premier room with balcony and view you can get it for 1900 or thereabouts a night = about $50 a night for a Premier room. That's a substantial discount. As well as being just 5 mins from PAI the Salil Hotel is also close to their Piyavate hospital (which is also superb). In addition to the fantastic breakfast there's a fridge/freezer and microwave in the room and with a Tops supermarket a few minutes walk away it's easy to get some food in if you don't fancy walking out after you're back from the hospital.

I've actually stayed in the Salil Hotel before and it's fabulous.

The fact that Thong lor is a plush area shouldn't put you off: that's a plus to be frank and you won't get a decent hotel anywhere in Bangkok for much under $50 a night so you might as well opt for one of the best boutique hotels in Thong Lor. Actually I've been coming to this city for 5 years now and lived here for a time and I don't think there's a better value hotel to be found. It is popular though: for good reasons.
