Does anyone know whether or not estrogen should be making me feel better emotionally and mentally? I'm on a fairly high dose of estrogen and I'm so depressed. I barely want to go outside anymore, don't care about eating, struggle to get to the gym, struggle to get through work. I'm post op, pass, young, in a relationship, steady job, etc., so there's no reason I should be feeling this way. I'm on a bit of progesterone, no testosterone or anything else. I see so much about people starting estrogen and saying how much better they feel but I've never got any mental side effects like happiness or anything from when I started years ago until now.

I can't speak from personal experience but it appears what does most of the heavy lifting this testosterone blockers. Your doctors needs to monitor your testosterone level and adjust the dosage so you fall in the normal feminine range.

My HRT was without blockers and the social transition helped a good deal. Surgery had and recovery had enough complications that I didn't notice the change of state of my mind. It wasn't till much latter that I noticed and I attributed it to surgery and the completion of my surgery. On the site, I am seeing people a couple of weeks after reaching low testosterone level reporting a loss of dysphoria and a much brighter outlook about the world.
