Hey everyone. I didn't know where else to turn to for help or advice on this. I'm an ftm trans guy and I started HRT may 17 2016. And I know when you begin hormones your menstraul cycle  is supposed to stop. But ever since my first shot my menstraul cycle has only gotten worse. Each time it comes it's heavier and more painful than the last. And currently I just got my 4th one since I started T. And it's becoming quite concerning. I've gotten less than 2 hours of sleep because I was crippled over in pain bawling because how bad it hurts. There's sharp pains in my tummy and my down stairs if you know what I mean. I can barely walk at this point. It's never been this bad in my life. Is any of this normal??? Do you get just one last really bad one before it all stops or is this something I should see a doctor about? Any help would so amazing. Y'all have no idea  :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

DbearWest,

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. I am on the opposite side of the sand box so I can't answer your question.

I would like to welcome you to the site. I think you might get answers quicker if we put this in one of a couple of other sub catagories. I could keep it under this category but shift into FTM, or it could go to a HRT section. Let me know if you would like me to do that.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to look through them, please take a moment:

That would be great actually. I'm still trying to figure out how to work this site so I wasn't too sure where to post this. If you could move it somewhere more proper I'd much appreciate it. Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad to be able to join. :)

DbearWest. sorry for you, getting to start  T and your monthly get worst.  I have heard that they should by 4-6 month after starting.  I would call or see your dr ASAP as this isn't normal.

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop immediately after starting T, but with the way you're describing it, you definitely need to talk to your doctor. Mine wasn't as bad as it was before T.

My period didn't stop until 3 months on T, but each time leading up to that was shorter and lighter than before. So your experience is definitely contrary to mine.

How long have you been on T? What are your T and E levels at? You should be getting these levels tested every 3 months for your first year on T, so I would strongly encourage you to go see your doctor and get them looked at.

You said you've had 4 periods since starting T, which I'm assuming was 4 months ago. Most doctors want your period to stop between 1-6 months after starting T, with 3 being the norm. I would get your levels checked to make sure the T isn't too high and converting to E. I would also ask your doctor about depo provera to stop your period while you figure out what's going on.

I'm late to this topic but this basically happened to me. My cycle seemed to fade the first few months on T but quickly got REALLY bad and really painful. My (temporary) solution was my doctor putting me on depo-provera, a birth control shot without estrogen in it. This helped but still did not completely stop bleeding, but it was significantly less. a little bit light orange here and there. I was on the depo shot for two years. I haven't had any bleeding in months now and hope to keep it that way. It's been 3 years now total on T.
