Therapy ideas for one with many problems

Hey all! I am in the process of a move as you all well know and am trying to find some good kinds of therapy. I have the following to deal with: Childhood truama, a whole lotta Anxiety issues, meltdowns one would expect from an autistic person during great deals of stress ''mentdowns'' (diagnosed aspie), from what i understand quite a bit of internailized transphobia, obsessive thinking over things that disturb me a great deal, exessive spending without really relziing it until after the fact, drinking a lot when down and eating a lot of fast food when up (but also down too) ,ect. The issue is I have found over the years that regular talk therapy and pill popping do nothing. Through talk therapy i have been told what my issues are and such, but i cant seem to do anything to change the way my brain thinks. As I get older this is becoming a much larger pain and i was wondering if anyone found other therapies that work? I am looking an a hypnotharpist for some of my issues and aswell EMDR. Has anyone found those two helpful to pin pointing why these issues are as prevelant as they are and more importantly how to use it to overcome them and make the life better?

Again I cant do too much until July when we move to the bigger city but atleast with some advice I can look up some stuff in the mean time. Any suggetions are great!

I am thinking your current therapist would have some excellent thoughts on whether  hypno or EMDR therapies would be a good next step for you. I know they are very effective for some disorders and dangerous for others.

My wife is a certified hypnotherapist and has used EMDR to treat trauma. Yes, these can be effective. However as flytrap said, your mileage may vary. For example, how susceptible your mind is. Mine isn't, and so hypnosis is ineffective for me.

Consulting your current therapist makes sense. And when you get moved, look for somebody with an actual Hypnotherapy certification eg American Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists ASCH, and who is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). That will at least ensure competence. But compatibility is also important.
If so, then why not?

Thanks friends!! I will ask the current person :)! I am really excited to be moving on in life.I really hope all falls into place for me <3. I know I gotta work for it, but I really hope my dream goes as planned :)

I have similar issues. I did emdr and helped. My therapist also discussed what he calls schemas, which are beliefs formed at an early age that can cause emotions to get out of hand with certain triggers. What we learn about the world at 4-6 years old affects us our whole lives. My drug is food. Sometimes I think being trans has been a sort of trauma. It's like being an under cover agent  or ET where you have to hide your true identity or risk death if exposed. At one time trans people would be institutionalized or worse. I hope one day trans folks never have to go through this.

Intresting. I wonder, how can EMDR do so much? I do recall doing it once or maybe twice years ago. I recalled a memery that had abosutley nothing to do with trauma or gender issues or anything. It was just a little issue at school. How can EMDR be so good? I mean all I did was move my eyes from side to the other.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy might be helpful.  A lot of what you are dealing with is a product of your internal dialogue.  The mind thinks a certain way and you have to take action to combat the negative talk and change it to a positive.  It takes time and effort, but the brain can be retaught how to have a positive dialogue.  Talk to your therapist about it.  It takes some special training on the part of the therapist, but is fairly effective.

Thanks girl <3, I shall. I am gitty about this if thats not too odd at all. It like I know my issues, or atleast  abulk of them. Now all I gotta do is work on them from a new angle :)

I didn't move my eyes. They use stimulators that you hold in each hand and the vibrate alternately at a specific frequency.

I primarily do CBT with some emdr.
