What do you ladies do to feminise your hands? I've found dainty rings just make them look bigger.
Darker nail polish looks better on me with about a 1/4in nail growth. Any shorter and my fingers look stubby, any longer and my hands look too big.
So any suggestions ladies? As I'm really attached to my hands and just wondering if i'm missing at trick ;D

I too wonder about this as I have long fingers and average hands currently. Yet when I have took the time to really look at them and inspect the feel of them. It is mostly muscle with my metacarpals (finger bone structure) being lesser in thickness and mass when compared to around 70% of males I observe. In terms of woman I think I am longer in the fingers and have more muscle but the overall ratio of finger thickness is the same?

I guess when muscle/testosterone reduction it might slim up a fraction.

With regard to reducing the appearance I feel jewelry only draws attention to it. That said perhaps experiment with chunky plain (single colour) wrist bracelets that give the illusion of downplay the size of the hands. Do not have bright nails or long nails. Try to use mat light earthy tones for nails.

Yes I was wondering if HRT would have a slight influence on feminising the hands appearance, I know the knuckles and bone structure won't change.
It's funny I always thought I had slight, feminine hands, a few women have even commented favourably on them.
It may be just dysphoria talking on my behalf as It's only recently I've been zoning in on them.

I'll take on board your suggestion about the chunky bracelet, it's an item of jewellery I haven't explored properly yet.

Earthy coloured polish won't suit me, I've got very red cuticles that really stand out against something neutral. Deep reds, plums and purples are best for me. I think length and shape of nails may be more important. I've always envied an almond shape, but i'm not sure if I could pull it just yet.

Funny you ask this question. In the past I always thought my hands appeared mannish even with  longer nails and polish. Too short fingers and fatter than a womans. The other night I painted them one last time before cutting them back again. I was looking at my hand admiring the polish and it struck me that my hands appeared narrower and the fingers more slender. It may have just been wistful thinking but I like how they looked. I'v been on HRT for almost 3 months so it probably didn't have anything to do with it.

Keeping your nails well manicured (if you can) with clear polish as a minimum helps to feminise your hands. Make sure you moisturise your hands. Women's hands come in all shapes and sizes so size is not the only thing that helps them to "pass"...Rings of the right size and shape for your hands are important. Bracelet, chunky style can help reduce the size of your an hands and draw the eye away from the them. Try some chunky ones on see how they look, you may  be better with plainer styles, I have small hands and wear 5 rings, bracelets, keep my nails manicured and polished. I get a great deal of pleasure out of these simple tasks...don't know why but I do.

One other trick when you are out in public and think you hands might give you away. If you place your thumb in the palm of your hand, it makes your hand appear much more slender. When you are sitting, you can place one hand on your lap and cover it with the other still keeping your thumbs on the palm of your hand.

How does one talk with their hands in their lap?  ;)

HRT does slim the hands a bit, especially when combined with a relatively clean diet, and gives the appearance of longer fingers, as do longer fingernails in my experience. I don't have any answers regarding how to fix dysphoric ideation, but I've just started wearing a thumb ring and I've noticed it affects both my overall mood (intention) and how I interact with things with my hands (happy coincidence). It also gives me something to play with when I have to sit still, and makes little clinky noises depending on what I'm handling, all of which I really dig (and probably annoy others with  ;D). Or when my necklace jingles when I move. Auditory presence is important to mindset, I suppose.

Can't say if the ring does anything for a feminine appearance, but it sure -feels- like it, as long as I don't start eyeballing my hands too closely, and for me the feeling is becoming more important than appearance, within reason. All that said, I'm in super awkward ugly duckling phase, so...

Good luck! Here, have some flowers  :icon_bunch:

You can make your fingers appear more slender by reducing the calluses  on your finger tips . My finger tips used to look blunt, especially my left hand from play the guitar before I filed mine down.

Thank Jeanette :)

Great to here how perceptions are changing for you. I think what triggered me was when I was trying to buy some more feminine rings and nothing would fit, well maybe a few on the pinky finger.
It kind of made me sad and maybe a little dysphoric. I get confused between the two sometimes. It's all good though, nothing major for me to deal with, I quite like me paws.

No worries there, I can't leave the house without a good mani, it's one of my pleasures in life too. I love the process, the colours, everything about having my nails polished lifts my spirits.

Funny thing is i've taken to displaying my hands a lot more. I always used to have them in my pockets or swinging at my side, But now I like hold them across my chest. I don't know how it came about, it just felt natural for me to do once I started revealing my femininity to the world. The thumb trick makes sense, you see I'd have never of thought of that.

Aw, thanks for the flowers IdontEven :)

Nice to here that HRT does slim hand a bit. Sensory and auditory feedback is powerful thing. I'm always tapping my  nails, and love how they feel when painted. It's these little, almost subliminal, life affirming messages that make you feel more complete.

I remember the good old guitar calluses. I stopped playing a few years back with carpal tunnel but now moisturise three times a day. So no issues there.

That's all very true, I used to be conscious of my hands in the past as ''slightly on the big size'' but over the years I've worked with them, I moisturise my hands maybe 3 times a day, and use hand cream, I keep my nails well manicured and polished, I love colors and nail art, I've 4 rings, my wedding and engagement rings, an eternity ring and a silver flower ring and bracelets, I wear hand gloves when doing cooking or housework, they now look and feel very feminine, I love looking after my hands, I guess it's a girl thing.
If your going thru hell, just keep going.

I'm with you on everything you've said Pauline.
I do like some of the more refined, almost classical looking nail art designs. Some of it looks very classy. I haven't ventured there myself yet, but maybe one day I'll give it a go.

Well my hands are the same as my mums, but working on cars has not done them any favours (its my job) . Have been wearing clear strengthening polish ( not out so its to stop my nails splitting ) .Painted them tonight in a nice dark red but its pickled on top of the clear and then scuffed some turning this on. Will have to clean it off tomorrow anyway.

What is odd is until last year I never even thought about other peoples hands nor really looked their hands. But the last few days I have been and in all honesty mine are not big nor small. I think what makes mine look bigger is the fact my wrists are very thin as in smaller than any men I know. I  can wrap my thumb and first finger around my wrist and move it up my forearm about 7-8cm before they pull apart.

/so guess I am a limp wrist :(

My hands are relatively fine, I am lucky X3 but with my very physical line of work, it really helps masculinise them :/ it's like they swell up, more veins broken nails, it's horrible.

If you want fine hands you most definitely have to avoid manual strong type work

This is my relaxed hand
[

Another thing I have learned, moisturise the hell out of em. I work with wine, and the acidity reeks havok on em.
They get hacks swell and look like ->-bleeped-<-. I do have disphoric hand days :'( because of work

Yeah, ALL the feels. I work in heavy construction, rebar, tie wire, pinches, crushes, cuts, scrapes. Im amazed I still HAVE all my fingers. (Fortunately I guess Im not as clumsy as other carpenters lol.) Find me a carpenter thats never hit themselves with their hammer or shot themselves with a nailgun, and I'll show you someone who didnt do much their entire career. Lol Its that dreadful law of averages.

Fortunately, like you, I was blessed with skinny little piano player hands and fingers. (Beyond all the scars I think they're looking 'okay'?) They're even getting skinnier too, I keep 'losing' my rings because they fall right off now!
My knuckles and fingers used to swell up like crazy, now I kinda wish they still did. I don't do much to 'take care' of them. I moisturize every so often with Vaseline 'Healthy Hand and Nail' and use an argan oil formula on my fingernails to keep them and the cuticle healthy and not splitting. (I can basically use my nails as box cutters if I want lol.)

I finally grew out my nails over acrylics, its not easy to not break a nail in my line of work,  but so far so good! (Now if only I could keep them painted..)

Your hands look great Angela.
And ditto on the box cutter haha, I do it all the time, walking past pallets of bottles I can never resist slashing the plastic open every time with my thumb lol
And as time is going by on HRT they are also thinning down too

But no the best is definitely, relaxing your hands, not working them so hard,. My weekend hands compared to my Monday to Friday hands are two very different things.

Mine are pretty much the same all week long. I also have really bad arthritis, and using impact guns and the like is literally murder for me Y.Y I've had to adjust the way I work so as not to aggravate anything or cause more inflammation. I use a long handle 14 oz mid weld anti-vibe hammer now, instead of the huge 22 - 24 oz, every little bit helps. I even GASP wear gloves. Anywhere else in my industry, you'd get teased relentlessly for trying to keep 'soft hands.' Fortunately this sites policy is gloves all the time, no matter what, even if they're a royal pain in the bum and actually more dangerous, operating power tools.

Now if only I could break the awful habit of *cracking my knuckles.* Y.Y
