OMFG... I finally got the confirmation letter for my surgery.

They want me in Montreal October 10 2016 which is Canadian Thanksgiving. If im taking the plane, a limousine will pick me up at the airport and drop me of at a Bed and Breakfast in Montreal... all these are paid for by the canadian health care except flight fare. extra charges if i have someone with me staying at the BnB.

the day before my surgery i will have my preparation for my surgery. this will be done at the BnB (shaving and stuff)

i will then be admitted to the hospital the morning of my surgery...

THIS IS SO EXCITING :)

i have a fe questions to ask dr B prior... but i wanna askk you girls what questions you might ask your doctor...

So my pre op consultation is the morning of my surgery... this is when i sign the consent and whether dr. b will tell me if i need a skin graft or whatever. i have listed a few questions to ask dr brassard.

these arent questions but what is the most impartant
1. Aesthetics
2. Depth
3. Sensation

i wanna ask him how big the clitoris is going to be. i wanna ask him if i can suggest to make it smaller or bigger.

i wanna ask him about sensation, will i be orgasmic after?

i wanna ask him if he has any pictures of his past result.

i wanna ask him how rectovaginal fistula happens?

i wanna ask him how does he form the labia majora with the penis skin if the penis skin gets inverted and becomes the inner wall of the vagina.

im thinking of other questions... maybe you girls can help me what to ask him.

Congratulations!  :D :D :D I have been thinking about this too.  I have surgery next month with Dr. Bowers.

I plan to ask:
What choices do you make in surgery that I can have an impact on through our discussion today?

I suppose that this question sounds kinda weird. But I would ask it from the stand point that most anything she tells me in the consult on the day before surgery is not going to change my mind about surgery. And most of what she does in surgery is not going to change based upon what I say.  She has a set process that she will follow.  However, I would expect that there may be some options/choices/decisions she makes during the surgery that impact my outcome.  Those are the things that I might be able to have some impact on through the consult if she understands what is most important to me.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

That's a good question to ask... I'll try to ask that question and see what he'll say...

It 40 days away and I am now getting nervous...

Very exciting!!

I will be there a few weeks after you.  I have a video consultation with them next week, but I am interested in:

1) Why they require stopping HRT 3 weeks in advance?  Do they have any flexibility with this?  Some surgeons (like Bowers), no longer require this.
2) Can some depth be exchanged for an improved appearance?
3) What are their most common complications?
4) Can revisions be done before 1 year post op?  Will they be out of pocket if they are done before the one year mark?
5) How many revisions are done per year?

I do know that Brassard offers free revisions for the first year. He already prioritizes appearance over depth; he gives most women 5.5-6" of depth and uses any extra tissue for better aesthetics (this is one reason I liked him, because I wanted adequate depth but didn't care about more than that). And he uses scrotal skin for the labia; the inner portion of the labia minora is lined from the excess urethra, which is as close as penile skin gets to the labia. (I'm OK with that too; the results of that urethral tissue are lovely and mucosal on me.) This is actually fairly anatomically correct - the tissue that differentiates into the scrotum in utero is what will form the labia majora instead in baby girls. Oh, and I was orgasmic within 3 weeks, but there's no way for any doctor to guarantee that.

Personally, I wish I'd asked for more pictures (just to get a sense of what my own bits would look like!) and for his actual complications rate - he did say he's had only 2 fistulas, and he does hundreds of operations a year, but obviously there are other things that can go wrong.

Congratulations!  I can read how trilled you are.   :)

So, letting the surgeon candidly know what your expected outcome to be, would well be advised...don't be shy.

Example:
Me to surgeons (2)  - Please do an extra nice job with the sewing because I plan to use it (vaginal sex).
Pretty happy how it all turned out.

These are some good questions I'll definitely ask some of these and post the answers

CONGRADULATIONS!!!

I know that feeling! Now that I'm s day away my euphoria had changed to nervousness and some anxiety....well much anxiety. I'm try to stay calm but it's hard. I have waited over 25 years for this day to come so I guess some anxiety is expected.

You will do good. Looks like your trying to prepare yourself as much as possible. The only advice i have is to ensure any questionable health concerns are addressed before you go there. I had tried to to that myself. But insurance companies thought otherwise! I had to pay extra to have tests done here to make sure I was healthy enough. In hind sight I still may have done it that way anyways, since if I were to have the tests they gave me here back home it would of cost me at least 3 times..,and that's with insurance!

Please keep us informed with everything. I wish you nothing but the best. 😀😀

P.S. Brassared was my first choice, but I also liked what PAI had to offer and was less expensive.

congrats Kim, I notice Dr Bowers does a some different approaches, in some of her more recent example pics, she has the scars up the side instead of where most everyone else normally has them, I've noticed some other surgeons doing it it this way, does she give you a choice which technique she does I wonder.
I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

That's a good question.  I don't know.  I should ask her about scars though, as I don't really have any hair that will cover them, no matter where she puts them.
