There is a roster of the most common names, by year, available one line. It is drawn from US government sources. For people picking names for themselves, it is helpful to see the typical names in their birth year.
I had to wait 25 years post-op before my mother finally blurted out my female-name-to-be, and then she was all over me to change it to that. After 25 years and all the records, diplomas, and other records! Too late for that. But it would have been nice to know back then, but mom was in so much denial at the time I transitioned that she refused to remember.
I think it's great we get to name ourselves.
