I hope this is the right section to ask this question.

I am wanting to get top surgery once I can actually do so. However, I have very large breast. Double D's. I had two children, and thus I have darker and larger aerola's than I did before children. So my question here is this:

Has anyone had top surgery that had larger breast? Were the results satisfactory?

Has anyone had top surgery with the larger aerola problem I mentioned, what do the surgeons do about that?

Thanks

FTMax

For a larger chest, you're going to be looking exclusively at the double incision method (DI). There are plenty of results on Transbucket of guys with larger chests. IMO, most of them look great. If I were a bigger guy, I would make sure to ask my surgeon specifically about dog ears in their experience (how often they occur, if they will do free revisions to fix, etc.).

For the areolas, the whole nipple complex is removed and resized during DI. My surgeon told me she uses coin sizes as reference and her default is usually a quarter for most guys. I specifically wanted to be smaller, so she used a nickel as reference.

Thanks for the information FTMax, I joined Transbucket and have been wow'ed by what I am seeing. Gives me a lot of hope for my own procedure way down the line.

Talk with a couple surgeons, each should discuss your situation and what they can do for you.  By talking with more than one surgeon you can see if they all recommend the same procedure and results for you.  You can see how each would handle your aerola/nipple complex.

If size is something that worries you especially when it comes to natural fat around the area + dog earing etc i would suggest also looking into surgeons who do a little liposuction in their procedure. my chest wasn't as big as you describe yours, but i was worried about that a bit because while i'm not huge i'm certainly not skinny, i have a gut and some rolls etc. The surgeon I went to does liposuction when he does top surgeries and I have no dog earing or anything of the sort at all, which was so relieving and makes me feel even more confident in my body. aside from the incisions it looks exactly how i imagine it would if my chest never developed.

Others have addressed the size issues you had but one thing stuck out that I wanted to jump in on that gets frequently overlooked: Darker nipples.

With grafting, it's normal for the new skin that grows after the top layer sloughs off to be much lighter than the original color. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it's pretty common so you're better of betting on it happening than it not happening if you have darker nipples.

For people who had pink nipples to begin with, this isn't a problem as their nipples stay pink (even if they're a slightly lighter shade), but for people who had tan or brown nipples prior to surgery, or for people who have darker skin, they may not find pink nipples aesthetically pleasing.
Not only that, but they may not be an even color; with lighter nipples this isn't very obvious, but for darker nipples it can give kind of a piebald effect to the way they look.

I had tan nipples before my surgery, and they're pretty multi-colored now.
Some parts are the original tan, some are a bright, pale pink.
For me, this isn't an issue, as I plan to tattoo over my entire chest next year, but for someone not planning tattoos it may be an aesthetic issue that they'll want to plan for the possibility of.
Pics of the 'piebald' coloring can be seen at the following links and are a few weeks old now, but the coloration hasn't changed.
Obvious warning for pics of nipples, so probably NSFW. These pics are of my chest that I took myself, and I'm cool with them being seen (I'm also WELL over 18) :):

You can always get 'patchy' colored areolas tattooed to have a color matching the color you want them to be, so it's not a huge deal and is easy to fix, it's just something to be aware of so it doesn't freak you out if it happens.

Thanks for all the answers! Gave me a lot to think on, and questions to ask. It is going to be a little bit before I get surgery, but there is never a too soon on writing potential questions down.

Vrekasht, thanks for the info on the coloring. I might just get my chest tattooed one day. I've always liked chest tattoo's, but having boobs I never thought to get one. Now that can be a reality.

with response to the colouring: my nipples and areolae are actually darker than they were originally. my left nipple is about the same as its original colour, which is highly bothersome because it's a different colour than the right side and the left areola, but honestly the pigment change (to become darker) hasn't bothered me much at all. it's My Chest now, and if my chest has dark nipple/dark areolae? i'm fine with that. (i'd be more fine with that if the left nipple would catch up colour-wise, but seriously, so much is changing so swiftly with surgery that the colour change wasn't even noticed until i realised the left side was dual-toned.)

I did completely ignore the coloring question, apologies. Pre-op, my nipples were a pinkish/light brownish. During the healing period after surgery, they were through a few different color iterations (black - red - brown - pinkish/brown). Where they're at now is very similar to where I was before, though I do think they are more pink. There are also very small specks of light brown in there which is interesting to me because those spots were spots where the scabs were last to fall off. The coloration hasn't changed at all since it settled, so I assume they're always going to be this way now (I'm 18 months post-op). The brown isn't noticeable unless you're really close, so it doesn't bother me at all.

I didn't even think about nipple discoloration. I was so concerned about the scarring and minimizing that. I don't think it would bother me though because I probably will only have my shirt off when I'm home alone. Even if I have my mom move in with me when I move out of student housing I probably won't go shirtless when she's home. She may be going with me to my surgery but we haven't exactly talked about me being trans
