Zot was a brave trans woman, a union electrician, and a tireless activist for leftwing causes. She was killed in a car accident in rural Georgia this week and buried yesterday in Gainesville, Florida, her home of over twenty years. Zot lobbied the City of Gainesville ten years ago to change its Human Rights Ordinance to include transgender people. More recently, she worked on a Living Wage Campaign to raise the pay at the biggest employers in the region from $8 hr to $12 an hr. She also joined Occupy Gainesville and championed the homeless and hungry--among many, many other causes she was devoted to.
Our community is devastated by her loss.
