Hello!

My name's Michelle.

I am 23 years old and have been on estrogen (injectable)  spiro daily for almost a year now.

I am really happy with the effects it has had on my skin in terms of texture and smoothness but I just noticed now very faintly, two blue lines running down both sides of my face (starting at corners of mouth)

it's super subtle! but definitely there and I'm kinda freaking out lol.
Is this due to the skin thinning effects of hrt? Has this ever happened to anyone else (I am also pale already)

Who should I talk to about this? My endo or just go straight to a dermatologist?
I want to get this sorted out sooner rather than later.

let me know what you think.
Thank you!

Hi Michelle, I would get that checked out. Yes thinning skin will happen, but being able to easily see blue veins in spots you don't in most people is something to be seen for. I have been on HRT for more than 2 years and never had that issue occur. It's possible your being super pale is why, but if you feel something is off going to your primary care doctor would be a good idea. Checking with the endo wouldn't hurt, but your GP should be fine in regards to that. Hugs

I have that same thing and yes it's due to the lightening and thinning of the skin. At this point it's just an aesthetic issue (one that doesn't bother me) and no one notices it.

I'm near your age as I just turned 25 a month ago and currently at 5.5 months in but I've noticed a 1 inch blue vein that loves being visible a ton right by my left eye, kinda wish it wasn't but I'm sure it would be a easy cover with some simple makeup. What I did really notice is that all over my body blue veins are quite easily visible and when I shower pffft my hands, wrists, feet and a few other places are like completely blue and I swear I can see my entire circulatory system >_< Haha

I have no idea if this will help you or not (FTM here) but I'm extremely pale and used to have somewhat visible veins like you're describing. When I was a teen (so going through the whole female puberty bit), you used to be able to see every **** vein on my eyelids and a couple other veins very faintly at the corners of my mouth. I hated it.
I could also see the veins in my chest under certain lighting. It sort of slowly became less obvious in my mid twenties. I transitioned and starting taking T shortly thereafter, though, so I can't say with certainty that it ever would've fully resolved itself.

Anyway, I had a couple friends that went through the same bit so I think it's just part of the 'pale woman' package.

I have noticed thathat the blue veins over my boobs are more visible.  I thought it was from skin starting to thin and lighten as well.

I have pale skin that's gotten more transparent as HRT makes it thinner. You can follow a vein from the side of my mouth, down my neck, to my chest, in certain lighting.

Because it's so transparent I have to be careful to drink enough water, eat at least somewhat cleanly, etc, or my skin gets horribly splotchy and red from underneath in a really ugly way. I actually had a friend ask me why the palms of my hands were red one day, she thought I burned them or something. Nope! That's just my blood showing through my skin because I'm dehydrated, thank you for asking :p

When I keep up on the water, diet, and sleep it looks completely different - still translucent, but more even and pale than chalky and reddish.

My friend Gilda had very pale skin and she had some noticeable veins. While disconcerting for me, it didn't seem to bother her as she always put on makeup before going out.  I am noticing varicose veins on my legs and cellulite.

For the most part my body and it's veins reads like a road map. BUT, the one and only place where it doesn't is in my face.

Unless you a stick figure to start with or lost a ton of weight this past year I would go and get a medical opinion on that from perhaps a vascular specialist.
