Hi,

I've recently made the decision to come out; I live in a rural state with not a lot of therapists in my area, so I don't know where to fully start at. Are therapists that use a telehealth option helpful (in your experience)?

I really don't know where to start, this seems like the start of a great adventure. Any help/advice would be great!

You can try our links section and see if there is anything near you. Some doctors will work over Skype and as long as you have a reasonable internet connection distance isn't a problem. The last resource is googling "town LGBT" and you may be able to locate a near by LGBT center. They often have therapist and might be able to connect you with other medical care if your therapist is unable to.

As for the usefulness of Skype, I started doing it when I became a moderator and I have talked with people very distant from me. It as become a very useful tool for me to learn how to moderate and I have helped a few people on the site with it.
