Hi everyone.
How are you? I am a 26yo individual undergoing HRT and I really, really want to thank all of you for your wonderful contributions to this forum. Before creating an account, I have been reading many of your posts regarding different topics, particularly MTF medicine matters, and it has been very helpful.
I have been dealing with gender issues for many years already. It is something that has brought many, many tears to my eyes. I found myself suddenly and nearly randomly avoiding certain social events, going out, meeting people, at those times when I felt most uncomfortable.
Finally this year I decided I had to do something about it and here I am, admiring your fight and also in it.

I would like to ask for some advice now with respect to an issue I have that is troubling me quite a lot. My hair is the fine type and it has thinned out considerably during years before HRT. Before starting HRT I was on Propecia for more than a year.
When I started HRT, I first used Androcur and was on it for around 3 months but, trust me, the effects were nasty. I felt weak and sometimes even more sad than I used to be at times.
My current HRT includes Spironolactone, Dutasteride (single pill), And Progynova (Estradiol Valerate), doses spread between morning and night.

I noticed the shedding has stopped but I don't think I see thickening so far. I'd like to ask if this is going to help with that thinning and how long would that take

Thanks a lot!! Love!!

Welcome to Susan's place. Your question is difficult to answer because results vary. Hair that was recently lost tends to regrow but hair that has been missing for a long time tends not to regrow. It may take a year or two before you have a pretty good idea what your results will be. I had a mild v pattern loss on both sides of my forehead and some of it regrew but my hairline is still a bit higher than a feminine hair line. In my case, I see no need to do anything about it but I am sure others can provide different views.

I am 65 and my hair was thinning to the point it was kind of bald in spots. Not bald bald but close enough for me as I always had thick hair. When I began HRT two months ago my hair started to grow again and it has begun to fill in the bare spots. No combover needed here. Here is the style I am going for. Only a few weeks more before I get it done as I am covered lengthwise    http://bestcelebritystyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/short-haircuts-for-women-2015-2016-boyish-haircuts.jpg I am just waiting for the bangs to grow out a little more.  Your results may vary.

Hi coolingway, welcome to Susan's. HRT can help but even with that the hair still maybe very fine and thickness may still very too. If you can take biotin that can help because that helps with hair and nail growth. I can't so I have had to use Nioxin which includes some biotin but used on the scalp directly. The key being though fine hair generally stays fine, but you might be able to get it to thicken up some depend on how long it has been that thin. Congrats on being on HRT. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs
