I'm a bit nervious about seeing my new Dr in Feb.   As long as my blood work is fine I sould be able to increase my dosage right?  Problem is I still look like a male and I'm afraid he will question me if im really trans and not prescribe me higher dosage prescription. Or just increase my dosage by by just a bit and see him after a few months.   I want to make this appointment meaninful and not just oh i uped u a bit see what happeds. Dont want to waste any more time kinda thing.  I know take things slow.  But would still make me a bit upset

The fact that you are comfortable with the current dosage and desire a higher dosage is a pretty good indication that you are transgender. The important thing is to discuss your transition goals with your doctor and your desire to have your body changes well under way by the time you approach full time. Doctors take it slow to protect you and to make sure they don't get ahead of your goals. If you are healthy and you have a need to reach your goals sooner, the doctor should be willing to work with you on the dosage.

Be honest about what you want with them. They're there to help you, not to control you. After years of not being assertive, I finally got on HRT by walking into the office and saying flat out I'm trans and I want HRT asap. Every time I went back for another appointment, I told them I wish things were moving faster, so they upped the dosage until I got to where I'm at now.

Hello Mikka, I do not know what system or constraints your medical provider works under but I can tell you about how mine supports me. My hrt provider is an OBGYN and her stated position and intent is to take care of my medical transition or at least the hrt part. My therapist is in charge of assessing the appropriateness of hrt, my OBGYN is for the administration. She has a fairly wide latitude in dosage levels and adjusts them to levels that keep me safe, and if it is not pushing her safety limits, keeps me happy. Judgement is not on her to do list and this situation works well for both of us. As mentioned by most of the previous posters, communication is key. Let your doctor know what is important to you and make sure that you fully understand why and where they are drawing their limits. Good luck.
