Curiously, I felt about the same with all the people I came out to; my wife, my two boys, my sister,
and my friends. If my Mother and Father were still alive, I think maybe it would've been my father, but I also think he would have been relatively understanding. Perhaps that is because of dealing with societal response to my spiritual beliefs,(I am Wiccan), and the resulting negativity I've received from choosing that path, by former spouses and many friends. Maybe not, but it certainly has given me resolve in my decisions.
I, in turn, faced coming out the same way. Gently, but with determination and conviction.
