How would you rate access to the LGBTQ... in your community

I live in a suburb of Chicago so my access is quite good  with the Boys Town neighborhood and Howard Brown Health Clinic.

In my personal experience in Boys Town the community is one. The health clinic and the LGBTQ... center binds us all together. I find great pleasure in going to both the center and the clinic because of the intense awareness of our need for each other.

Little to none, very limited would be the best description I can think of

I feel very lucky and thankful to have a health worker who was willing to help me find a qualified therapist who recommended me to my current endo

The only support group that I know of was about 40 miles away and had already become defunct about 6 months before I even knew they existed

Right in the village where I live, there's nothing, unless you count our lesbian neighbours, who are good allies, but don't have much in the way of resources.

There is a university town not too far away with an active Pride group.  For actual services, though, it takes a drive to the city, an hour and a half away.  I'm on my way there shortly for my support group meeting.

KNOW IT"S HARD FOR SOME< I was at the clinic last month and met a parwnt and her daughter that had like a 5 hour drive to the clinic .

There are rumors that there is a transgender person in town.  I have never met this person, and have only recently came out to a couple of my closest friends, who don't live in the same town.  The nearest place that I am aware of is about an hour away, Indianapolis.

I guess being born around Chicago I never realized how difficult some have it as far as being in touch with the community.

I had to say mediocure. 40 miles northwest of Chicago we have one small clinic just south of me but they are limited in services. Things are getting better but still only mediocure.

If I lived in the city I would rate Chicago as excellent because of the Howard Brown centers at several locations in the city. I travel there now for my transitioning health care, but between the trains and taxis it's an all day affair for an hour appointment.

I like hanging out in the lounge at the clinic and people watch or at the community center and do some grocery shopping

Guess I am pretty lucky being in the suburbs of Washington DC so things are pretty accessible. Therapist is pretty much in walking distance, DC has the Whitman Walker Clinic. Finding an Endo is a bit harder but I do have a lead. My family doctor just had this huge question mark over his head when I asked him about HRT...

I have not seen anything surgery related, seems like Baltimore is the next best option. For whatever reason I am a fan of "shop local" in this area...

There are also a great number of support groups.

My community is more repressed / conservative on this issue than appears.  I have no real outlet that I know of but I am new.

I am aware of some lesbians (2 are cops), and there are a few gay guys. Other than that, small town life offers nothing. My fear of big cities keeps me where I am happy.

The Baltimore area is generally a good place to be trans. There are support groups in places around. The people are usually pretty accepting. There are services available, although there are no surgeons for GCS. A number of churches are friendly and hold PFLAG meetings at one.

Just a thought for anyone without a friendly place to go! If you have a Unitarian Church nearby, they are usually LGBTQI friendly. Expect there are other types (brands) as well.

There are so many resources I can access living in Los Angeles (especially Hollywood), so im really lucky. I just wish I lived closer since it takes an hour and a half by bus to get to my clinic :T
