Ok.  I'm getting decent with my makeup.  My face is still pretty masculine, but there's only so much I can do at this point.  The one thing I just cannot seem to get down is eyeliner . . . like, its to the point that I just don't bother cause I am so bad with it. Getting the pencil anywhere near my eye causes it to start twitching and its hard to draw a smooth line when the canvas is moving.  Any tips?
Sincerely,
Kassandra or Kass.

I had a similar issue with eyeliner.  The only thing I can recommend is to continue practicing, I am sure you will get the hang of it.  How are you with mascara?  If you are able to put that on, you should be able to do the eyeliner.

The most helpful thing I've ever done with eyeliner is having a very clear idea what I'm going for.  I once saw a woman wearing great eyeliner, went home and immediately tried the same thing and it improved my skills 1000%.   As far as actual application, it just takes practice.  There's a spot on my eyelid that always makes me tear up, and it used to make me gag; but it's getting better gradually.

It is actually a fairly hard thing to learn and dependent on a steady hand and decent tools and materials.

Youtube is a huge help and i can't say enough about sitting down at a vanity or makeup mirror and making sure your arm is braced etc as the videos tell you. Even so, i can handle the pencils pretty well, the crayons so/so, the markers sort of so/so and the creams ...nope, haven't got there yet.

Keep trying.

Practice  practice practice.

The videos look great but I've never been one to get much out of them. Maybe if I had a nice sit down vanity that I could put a computer on and pause and pause and repeat constantly.

I did get a lot better with eyeliner and mascara after being shown how during a Sephora makeover.

I to can't seem to get eye liner to look good either
Can't get it to go on straight and evenly
I tend to just use a very dark eye shadow for the
eye liner which is much more forgiving

Eyeliner is probably the most feminizing thing you can do to your eyes, partially because it's such a subtle darkening around the lashes.  I suggest you try and figure this out.  I don't remember ever having a problem with my eyes twitching while I was applying it, but I've been doing it since I was 10 or so.  This might help...

Exercise your eyelids: hold them shut tight, open them wide, repeat a few times.  More exercised muscles are less twitchy.  Looking in different directions while you do this might help, but looking ahead seems to get the most muscles.

Stretch your eyelids: use your fingers to gently massage and pull around them, getting that whole area less tense.  That might be what's making then quick to twitch.

Desensitize your eyelids: hold the eyeliner gently against the skin of your eyelid, wait for it to stay still, then start gently moving it around until it stops twitching again.

To apply:  Look down, gently rub the end of the pencil above your eyelashes, then (if you have the dexterity) lightly rub it against the underside of where they come out.  Look up, start under the eyelashes, and do the same thing.  It's possible just learning to apply well and practicing will help you with the twitching.

pull the skin taut when trying to apply liner and i've pretty much resigned to using a piece of tape on the edges of my eyes for the winged liner. it makes everything so much cleaner and hassle-free.  :)
