Hello,

I have been on Estradiol and Spiro for 41 days now. I have started to notice my nipples getting tender but I have the side affect of my libido disappearing. How have other people dealt with this or how long did it take for it to come back for people?

Thank you

The female libido is considerably different than the male libido.  You are in the process of erasing your male characteristics, and re-constructing yourself as female.

You will become horny again, but not in the same way.  Some people do retain the ability to function sexually as a male, but that generally goes away or decreases greatly with time.

Yes as you progress on T blockers you will lose your sexual drive. That's why these drugs are used to chemically castrate sex offenders. It will be substituted with other feelings down the line. Two things that have happened to me since starting HRT. Nipples that are sensitive to touch, and a very sensitive tip of my penis, but there is little or no fluid other than a small amount of, basically lubricant.

12 yrs after starting HRT and 10 yrs being post-op with very little T, I have a great sex drive and I honestly don't remember it being that different relative to before HRT. I was always quite a sexual person. For me, E appears to stimulate my sex drive to the same extent as T did but I have often been on moderate-high doses on E too. Some women find their sex drive increases with bio-identical progesterone, I've noticed this on occasion, but it can also have the opposite effect on me, as well.

Ernst Schering Found Symp Proc. 2006;(1):45-67.

"estrogen deficiency results in a spectrum of symptoms. These include loss of fertility and libido in both males and females"

In line with my personal experience.

I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

My libido died within weeks of starting. My sex drive is still strong but I don't have the uncontrollable urge to masturbate multiple times a day. I went from 1-2 times a day to 1-2 times a week.

Thank god for that lol

Mine dropped to about zero in the first six months, but slowly began to return. With the adding of progesterone this spring it has returned even more but it is a lot different as others have said here.

Much more of a sex drive that you traditionally associate with a woman. Emotions are a lot more important to me now, visual is less important (and i was never that visual to begin with), it takes me longer to get aroused and now my breasts/nipples are a big gateway to arousal. Orgasm has changed to more of a whole body experience and lasts longer. There is also an emotional side to orgasm that i can't really explain.

Some report increased libido.

For me libido dropped after a few days.  Its a good feeling.  I had sex with my gf after month and a half of hrt.   I never feel the need to force myself to c*m.   Before It was all about fast trusting and being dominante. But now.  its more about enjoying the moment and feeling and the intimate moment.  You'll understand.

I am on a really low dose, but I am wishing for the day I have a more "female libido".  :-)

For me thought wise not much has changed after 3 months, the idea of porn or "alone time" may pop into my head a few times a day randomly but where I see the huge difference is the ability to want to act on it, it just feels like a complete chore/hassle/lack of willpower to go through with it or to do anything so thoughts pretty much just stay that way. If i ever act on those then after a usual long, unenthusiastic amount of time/effort wasted I'm filled with tons of regret, shame and dysphoria so I pretty much just leave them as thoughts Haha

Yes it was affected but I'd already shifted away from orgasms during PIV sex so it feels like a natural progression. As some others reported, progesterone seemed to help a lot and my responses are simply more feminine now.

It feels like something of a treasure to have lived a sex life as male and now to be experiencing something  that different. And it's oddly reassuring that my shift in sexuality for the year before really did move in that direction. It feels like my body and mind had finally figured out what I needed even without the HRT.

My libido nosedived within a few weeks of starting HRT, and is practically non-existent now. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but over the long-term, I worry that my partner won't be satisfied with a (virtually) sexless relationship.
