Hi there, this is the first time I've posted on here actually.

I started HRT about four days ago, and right now I'm ravenously hungry. I'm sure this topic has been brought up a whole bunch, and I don't wanna bog down the forum, but I guess I'm kinda surprised that I'm already having side effects.

Has this happened to anyone else so early on? Or is it possible I just happen to be hungry today xD

Probably Just a big eats day :) I started putting on weight after around 6 months. I've been hormones around 2.7 years and have put on about a stone and a half. First time I haven't been underweight in my whole life, I feel great! I'm a size 10 now and a 6 before hormones. Sill you need some fat, to redistribute it! ;)

Ha, also I've been sick. That might have more to do with it come to think...

And lol I'm already pretty chubby as is.

Welcome to Susan's Place. Without knowing a bit more, there are several possibilities. Progesterone and testosterone will both make you horny and hungry. On MTF HRT some of the blockers result in an initial surge of testosterone before fully suppressing it. Last but not least is HRT may have reduced your depression enough that the idea of food just sounds good.

I have this as well, about 3 weeks in and it started about a week in.  I thought it was a combination of the diet I am on, and the fact that the smaller portions always leave me hungry, and the hormones as that is when the biggest shift into hunger began.  I thought I was the only one who was having this problem.  Stuck at 258-260Lbs, GRRRRRRR.

Being extra hungry doesn't help for weight loss.

My hunger feels like 2-3 times more that it was in the past. The only way i have been able to keep from much weight gain is tracking everything i eat and concentrating on eating filling foods every 2 hours or so, rather than big meals.

Are you on progesterone? Progesterone makes me eat LIKE A COW with a bottomless stomach

Good call Dena, I used to be too depressed to find any joy in eating. Now its all yum yum, munch munch! In fairness I was actively trying to put weight on too! I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it Pastel Punk. Go off your measurements rather than your weight, and expect a lot of fluctuations, women's bodies are always cycling and changing :)

very normal on pre, for most cis males (pre hrt) if you work alot during the day (more physical) your bodies energy demands go up and you tend to want to eat a lot and the metabilism goes up.. on days you do not work alot physically it goes down. cause and effect :)

me i am trying to get fit before i start hrt and slim myself down, i currently weigh around 92kgs=202 pounds (about right, i am in my bmi i am 6ft4 and 3/4 tall) i want to get back down to around 80kgs or so.. which for my height will be healthy.. but umm i want to look healthy too... sometimes the correct bmi doesnt look healthy..

Discussion with my Dr after having Oestrogen implant...

Me:

"What is the most common side effects?"

her Answer:

"about 3 kilograms"

I put on weight simply smelling food...ok maybe not quite but very easily

Pizza is salty, do you take spironolactone?
