There's a bed and breakfast that has an arrangement with Brassard and hosts his patients' visitors. When I was there, my wife was also allowed to sit with me in the residence for most of the day, but that might have changed (it's been about 4 years).
There are private rooms; there are also two rooms with two beds, but I would think that you could request one of the singles. However, the hospital rooms are doubles. You also may have to be prepared to sacrifice some modesty - this surgery is going to require a number of people to examine, handle, and treat your post-op genitals. This is true regardless of the surgeon that you choose.
Brassard recommends against electrolysis or laser, because it actually makes his follicle removal process less likely to be successful. He also suggests waiting a year after the last clearing, for the same reason. So that might be an issue. I had no hair removal, and I have no hair where it shouldn't be, so his method worked for me.
No, a cashier's check is also called a bank check, and it's something the bank prepares for you and sends to the recipient (it's basically a check that *can't* bounce, because the bank has guaranteed that the funds were available and prepaid). Traveller's checks are something you take with you and use to pay merchants during your trip, and they're also prepaid, but they're a totally different thing. I have no idea about the hold you're running into - mine were sent immediately. Brassard did also require three payments, so yes, it went in three installments (but I'm sure he'd LET someone pay the full amount at once!).
Brassard's fee covers every single thing for the patient - rooms and board, food, medications, supplies, dilators, etc. - except for the stay at the B&B (because they're a different business), and of course it does not cover the B&B/food/travel expenses for guests. He even arranges for transport to and from the hospital, no charge.
Yes, I needed a passport.
I think many surgeons adopt and adapt techniques; I don't know that he borrowed from *all* of them, but he certainly does innovate when something clearly better comes along. My results are excellent, and I hear he's gotten better since. (I had a gynecologist who didn't realize.)
