Large amount of blood after IM injection?

Hello, I'm on T and I recently injected into my thigh. All was fine going in, however, when I pulled the needle out a large amount of blood gushed down my leg. Thankfully it stoped fairly quickly after a few moments of panicking and wiping it away with a towel. I am worried I accidentally injected in a vein or artery. If so do I need to go to the hospital? I have never bled like this before after an injection.

That happened to me once after injecting estrogen. It scared the hell out of me and I had my neighhour, a physician, come over post haste. He checked me out and told me that I had probably skewered a vein or vessel while going in but did not inject right into it. When I pulled out, out came the blood. I am assuming you are aspirating? That is very important. I ended up being just fine, but if you have any unusual pain or symptoms then I would get to the doctor ASAP or at least give them a call.

You just nicked a vein. Happens to me 1 out of 10 injections. I doubt that you hit an artery, unless you were shooting it on your upper/inner thigh. If you're going for the outer quadricep it's only muscle there. If you felt the muscle twinge then you got the needle right. I wouldn't worry.

I get a lot of blood maybe once every 6 months to a year. Not a big deal. Aside from the bleeding, as long as you're feeling okay you should be fine.

My wife likes that I am doing injections instead of pills for my estrogen as she knows it's healthier for me with the liver. However she hates needles and blood and doesn't like seeing me inject myself. So one day I tell her I'm going to do my injection and said she wanted to watch and she asked if there was going to be any blood and I told her hardly ever or there is just a drop. So then as she watched everything was fine (aspirating and all) but I must have nicked a vein and after I took out the needle out popped a lot of blood freaking her out. Of course I was fine and it stopped very quickly, but she doesn't want to be in the same room when I inject.

I know this is an old post, but rather than recreate the topic; I've decided to chime in my experience. I just injected into my thigh; as per usual, and upon removal of the syringe from the injection site came a rush of blood out. It poured all down my leg, and formed a puddle in my office chair. I stood up and it started rushing down my leg, and then seized bleeding. It's been several minutes, and I feel fine. I'll update if I notice any unusual side effects. This is the first time I've had this happen. The most blood I've ever seen was a drop or 2. Definitely not a quarter to half a cup like what just happened. All I've got to say is wow... that's a lot of blood. 

I've been injecting regularly for a year and a half now, and only just had this experience. It's rare, and quite surprising to say the least. I've discovered many others have had this happen. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'd be a lot more sketched out if that were the case.

It's been over 17 hours, and I haven't had any issues from the injection, nor the loss of blood. To anyone else that may have this happen to them; relax, you'll likely be alright. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, you can; of course, go visit a doctor and get checked out. Just remember to aspirate before you inject, and you should be alright.
