Good morning guys,

I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experiences with Dr. Leis. I read up on his method ( http://www.thetransgendercenter.com/index.php/surgical-procedures/phalloplasty/additional-information-on-phalloplasty-a-metoidioplasty.html ) and it sounds appealing to me. My main concerns that were keeping me from getting a phalloplasty was the scarring at the donor site, complications with UL, and having tactile intercourse.
This method seems to remedy those issues.

One other general question: For those of you with substantial growth from testosterone (I'm close to 3.5" erect)
I'm curious to know... if they reposition the clitoris, and it is at the base of the neophallus, are you able to achieve a "natural" erection?

My idea (please let me know if this is far-fetched) is that with my current growth, if I only wanted 5" or so in length, its essentially just a penile extender at that point, no? Or would the neophallus be too heavy for mine to lift it?

Anyone with any info or general feedback is welcome!

Thanks,
Jim

Hi, Jim!

Welcome to the site.  I'm sort of heading in the other direction, but some of the guys will be around soon with answers for you, I'm sure.

I hope you feel welcome here.

I also want to share some links with you. They are mostly welcome information and the rules that govern the site. If you have not had a chance to take a look, please take a moment to go through them.

Things that you should read

Once again, welcome to Susan's. Look around, ask questions and join in.

I have no experience with Leis but I've only always been told to stay far away from him. When I began T for the first time my doctor at an LGBTQ health center told me to never go to Leis. The concerns I've heard have been centered around his quality of work. You'll hear stuff about bedside manner about ALL surgeons. That's an individual preference. I personally don't need my surgeon to be a nice person as long as they are masters at the craft. You see them a few times only anyway. It's the staff you need to be nice to you. Anyway, if you find otherwise please share because he's in Philly as am I and that would be a huge time and money saver as opposed to my current NYC plan.

Leis doesn't do UL. So you would need to find another surgeon to do the UL if you wanted to pee standing up. This would have to be done at a second stage after your initial phalloplasty has healed, and it would involve opening up the underside of your penis to lay the urethra in.

He also uses the ab flap, which will not allow for sensation through the shaft. You would just have sensation in the base of the penis where the clitoris is buried. You could find another surgeon who is willing to harvest nerves and do microsurgery to reconnect them to your genitals. I do not think this could be done at the same time as the urethra, so would add a third stage.

You would still need an erectile device to achieve an erection. The issue with your theory is that erectile tissue would not be present in the graft.

Leis is good in that he takes many different insurance options and having seen his results, I do think they look good aesthetically. But for everything I wanted from surgery, going to him would've necessitated coordinating with at least 2 other surgeons to get everything else done.

Jim.

From what I am reading, you are not interested in UL, like the idea of scarring at the place of your abdomen (rather than another location), and do not want "tactile" feeling.

I am not sure if by tactile you mean erotic, or not.

You will feel tactile sensation with Leis's phallo, but you will not have erotic/sexual.

Most often guys get their testosterone induced phallus placed inside the phallo.  Leis can leave it out/underneath if you would want.  It sounds like that is what you are looking for.  I also think you are asking if your current phallus will be strong enough to life the neophallus.  If so, the answer is no.  Your current penis will not be able to lift the created phallus by the strength of it's erection.

You can get an implant inside your abdominal phallo, though.

You might want to look into meta.  With that amount of length, the additional girth you will get with the meta may be enough for you. (being as you mentioned 5 inches working for you).
