Go for the free consultation and/or a 15-minute session, preferably on a low-visibility area like under the chin or on the neck. And then see what results you get.
If it's being done right, there should be general redness for a couple hours, followed by pinpoint redness and swelling for a couple three days. (Don't put any product on the treated area other than witch hazel and aloe for at least 24 hours, and 48 if possible.) And, of course, you should never feel the hair "tugging" at your skin as it's being removed.
Ask about her technique. A good electrologist knows the most important skill has to do with the insertion of the needle, that both the bulb (the root ball of the hair) and the "bulge" (an area of the sheath where stem cells are located, just below the arrector pilli muscle responsible for giving us goosebumps) need to be treated to be as effective as possible.
You'll want to know what kind of modality she uses. Galvanic and Blend require less skill -- and more time -- than Thermolysis. (If she uses Thermolysis and doesn't use a foot pedal to control the current, that's not a good sign.)
